I have arranged for us a club stand at the Cars and Car Conversions Action Day at Castle Combe on June 14th. I've got 12 free entry/stand passes (worth £8 each), and 6 free track passes (5 laps, worth £20 each) to give out :D :D
Passes will be given out on a first come, first served basis, and to start with, to paid-up members only. If closer to the event there are still passes spare then I may give some to non-members :)
Here is the list so far:
The entry/stand passes are for one person and car, so any passengers you bring will have to pay £8 each

All passes (including entry) must be used before 11am, so there's no point requesting one if you aren't intending to turn up before then because you will not be allowed in. :( Please also allow time to queue :rolleyes:
Oh yeah, forgot to say, please post on this thread first and then PM me your address so I can send the passes, this way there can be no squabbling, anyone who has already asked, address please! :)

Cool, the only reason i went with that lot of hooligans last time was i missed the boat quite badly on the track time thing....by about a month......... and Slipstream Ian had one left! :D

Never fear though, you can still come if you wish, it'll just cost £8 per person (1 car included in price) on the gate. Track time will cost you £20 for 5 laps and can also be purchased on the day :)

We have to use our track passes by 11am. We're going to have to get to Chievely quite early - probably leave at about 7.30 - 8am. We should get to the Combe at 8.30 ish which gives us 2.5 hours to queue and get on track.
Preparation: your brakes will get mashed. Get some hard pads in there and make sure they're run in properly. If thats not possible make sure that you plenty of material on all the pads. If you're on track and the brakes start to go all mushy slow down and let them cool off. When you come to the end of your session do a lap slowly in top gear avoiding brake use, to let things cool down. :)

I may also have a passenger spot, depending on if my usual co-pilot turns up on time, which she might not...... so a 50/50 chance of a ride.

Oh right - I've used a camera in the past, but it was stuck to the windscreen...
think they would be ok if it was attached some how, was gonna stick one on my back shelf this time........not sure, think its just the fact your co-pilot could smack you with it on a corner! :d

Those of you who requested track passes, these have to be collected on the day, hence why you won't get them with your entry passes, so don't panic :)

Been having a bit of a barny with my insurance company today, they wont insure me for a 20minute track session (I offered to pay extra on top of the £730 a year they get:cry: )
Not over yet, I've got to speak to the broker tomorrow so there may be a way around it.
Any one had similar problems?

I think Castle Combe might sell track day insurance for the day? Ask them, might be cheaper :)
I hadn't thought of that. I'll give them a buzz tomorrow.
My broker knocked me back today (the muppet on the phone had the cheek to try and persuade me to take a policy with another firm losing 8 months extra NCB and paying over £400 for the priveledge:tosser: )

I'm thinking of going to this with Bart. I'll be deciding next week. If I go (likely), I'll be taking the camcorder and would love to do a vid as a passenger in a track car! :thumbs:

If you are allowed em, and my co pilot doesnt turn up on time, which she might not, your welcome to be scared to death in mine :D
But i dont think your allowed em loose in the car, have to be attached, so bring duct tape and strap it to the widscreen :D
I'll have to look into this! I could put it on some padding and tape it to the dash, possibly. Alternatively, I could just not tell them...:wave:

Not at all. Like I say, I'm happy to be a track junky and go with anyone! :D Obviously, could be a bit difficult if everyone's in the same session...
They're not having sessions as such, you just queue up when you want to go on, and then they take so many cars from the queue at a time and send them on.
It would be nice to have a few 200s on at once, but I fear it may get a little too competitive ;)
Nicely, was it you who did the big boards and flyers at JapFest? Could you bring them along this time as well please? :D

What time is everyone planning to get there, recon it would be cool to get as many sx's on the track at the same time as possible :thumbs: (save any daft evos flying past on their way to the tire walls :D)

My luck has taken a turn for the worse.
The smoking 2***** now has a siezed rear caliper, and shagged disc to keep it company:rolleyes:
Will be doing full brake upgrade within the next week or two. I have got Z Turbo calipers for the front and have got some 3G discs that need to be converted to 4 stud.
Am desparte for standard rear calipers (or just one passanger rear and disc) :cry:
On top of that she should be going in to see a very nice man with not too far from here to sort the smoke out once and for all;)
If the car is in any way road worthy, i will be there, but i wont know till the night before:(

I leave the BB for 2 days and it starts getting busy again.

1) SXOC flyers and Promo boards (PeteC you have a PM) Grazor and The Architect put these together for Japfest, I'll ask him if he could send the layout. The Boards were huge though and my little economy printer won't be able to cope. Does any one have large (A2 or A1, I think) sized printing facilites?
2) Convoy to CCC. For those coming from London or the North a few of us are meeting at Cheiveley Sevices which are off the exit ramp at the junction of the M4 and A34. (I think it's J13 of the M4) for 7.30 - 8am :eek: after the night before I'll be a bit:wack:

just done oil, oil filter and fuel filter change last night.
still got a bit of hestation there, seems bit better though.

You're right mate, I won't be doing the session now as I can't arrange suitable cover.
I spent 2 hours on the phone (at work - thanks boss!) trying to get it sorted but it comes down to the fact that I can have as many goes on the track as I want on the day so they won't insure me for less than £130, B*st*rds:mad:

I'll still be coming though, does anyone fancy having a 6'2" 13 stone lump of balast next to them?

I sadly am gonna back out too, after the pasteing my brakes got last time i dont think they are gonna be fit to go on the track, and i cant afford to get anything done with them untill after CCC.
So there is another Free Track Pass up for grabs, i loved my last track session, but i cant risk mine and other peoples cars with iffy brakes :( (much as i would love to ;))

Ok then mate, I've put you on the list, you'll have to come and find me on the SXOC club stand on the day to collect your pass, I'm the one with the grey S13 with the primered tailgate :o
You must arrive early, as the pass must be used before 11am, and you have to allow time to have a safety briefing and queue (for at least 30 mins!) :)

Yeah if you look at one of the photos there is a 3dr cossie with water spilling passanger side i think he hit that and they 360ed it in to the wall :(

Had a cracking day, huge thanks to Pete C for sorting it out and cheers to jez for making realise how little I've done in this life as it flashed before my eyes on a couple of occasions when he took me out on the track:thumbs:
Jez, I've got a load of 15second clips of your run if you PM me your E-mail addres I'll forward them on. They're all about 4.5mb and in Quicktime .mov format

I really thought we were in the tyres at one point, managed to correct it but still let that white golf and a honda somethingorother go by...

the golf ended up in the tyres, and the honda what-ever ended up being shunted by something cateram looking :D
