I'm looking to buy a runaround as my 200 is off the road with Big End/Crank failure.
With the car I went to see last night (1.1 Clio) the guy has lost all the paperwork except the V5 in his house move. It is taxed until the end of next month but he is unsure of the expiry date of the MOT.
I'm sure I seen somewhere that the Reg can be input and it will tell you the details on the MOT.
I was going to get it to keep me on the road day-to-day and then let my daughter get it once she passes her test after she is 17.
Does anyone know where I can apply to get this checked ?

If he knows the garage where it was tested, then you can get a copy from there.

If you buy the car with no MOT certificate, treat it as a car with no MOT, as there can be no gaurentee it still has some left.

If you want an MOT on the car, Id make him either get a copy, or re-MOT the car :)

Thanks Stu

Might do some digging at work to see if I can get further details before committing to it. (Don't want 3 duff cars in the drive)

Call the MOT enquiry line 0545 600 5977 tell them the reg. number and they should be able to tell you when and where the car was tested.

Really helpful :( . They told me the only way is to go to where the car was MOT's last and get a copy of the Cert otherwise assume No MOT. Cheers anyway

Yep - had this problem with my Rocco. Basically, if youve bought the car with no certificate, you is fooked. :(

Sorry for the bum steer.........

Phone them up and ask them what they are for?

Perhaps it is to check if a certificate is stolen, but I honestly thought that they would be able to help you:(

If in doubt, don't buy it.

Thanks folks.

Will keep all this in mind. It's a cheap runabout so may just go for it anyway and get my m8 to get it a full once over (He's an ex MOT tester)
