View Full Version : Lost your Sky signal ?
Just spoken to the support company who's coming to "fix" my Sky system ( lost the signal the other day ) and guess what - apparently someone ( BBC or Sky ) has moved the satellite. Loads of people are now having to get an engineer out to "fix" it.
The BBC have moved to a new satellite. It's sat right next to the old one, so if your dish was properly aligned in the first place it should still be ok. I suppose if it was off to one side, and it was the wrong side, then you would have problems now.
They have done this so they don't have to subsidize the Rupert Murdock empire any more than they have too. The new satellite has a footprint that more closely matches the outline of the UK. As the signal is less likely to be viewed by people overseas they don't think they need to scramble the picture, hence they don't have to use Sky's scrambling system. Not so good for Brits living abroad though.
