View Full Version : Wheel Alignment - Heads Up
I felt it was only right to pass on the details for a company I have visited today in Ponllanfriath, called MOTOTEC - 01495 224887
Some in the trade may be aware of them, after being absolutely p!ssed off with the complete sh!te down at Newport, 2 visits there resulted in my alignment being set 'perfect' on there equipment, and the fact my NSR wheel was hanging out of the arch and OSR tucked in 1" was due to the chassis being bent:no:
I spoke to my mate who uses Mototec and has done for years, he said pop up and they will sort you out. Superb place friendly and Chris knows his stuff.
Thousands of pounds worth of Hunter equipment told me my 'perfect' alignment was the following....
concentrating on the rear to condense...
NSR Camber -.38 OSR Camber -1.49
NSR Toe 0.09 OSR Toe 0.14
He litterally laughed at it:D
Its sorted now and set nearly to Whiteline sport settings.
I had a 6 page print out with the reading before and after, and also some useful wheelbase measurements, lateral Offset, Track Width etc etc
£80 well spent, just need a better seat now;)
Mods I can post the number up if you allow it
O
Yeah post the number up np
I might have a couple of seats for sale soon too ;)
Well, as of this afternoon I am slipping off my leather fecker!!!
Will edit the first post with number boss.
Could explain this then

owen i wouldnt say that the service down at orchard is complete sh1te. i have always had a great alignment from them and have never heard any negative comments until yours? i will mention this topic next time im down there so they can make sure something like this doesnt happen again :D
But its good you have found somewhere else buddy as sometimes i need to get alignment done at last minute
Chris, The service was never the problem:D He is a cracking bloke:thumbs:
Its just the pure inaccuracy of his equipment that pissed me off.
The difference is not only visable but noticable in driving.
It was the last straw when he was flicking the resistor in the NSR unit;)
Well worth a try.
owww, maybe this is why you keep spinning Chris? :p Jokin of course ;)

Im not convinced mine is correct either
Its better than before but there are a few tell tale signs that something is wrong
Main one being the fact the drivers side top mount is set vastly differently to the passenger side
Steering wheel is not centred
Car pulls to the left
I spoke to them and they said it was right and i could pop back and have it checked but im not convinced.
You get what you pay for at the end of the day though so im off to Horsham developments at some point to have his full works setup
My Toe arms on the rear were full out on the OS and right in on the near side.
Have the whiteline settings and the grip is immense, its now a case of trying to hang onto the wheel as you are flyinging out of the seat.
Exactly what I asked for and was happy to advise me on front top mounts and some caster adjustment tricks.

cheeky begger, only just seen this :p
Orchard are good and they are waiting for their new equipment to arrive. I used MOTOTEC and they are FOOKING AWFUL. They left ALL the locking nuts on my adjustable arms and couldn't get the setting anywhere near what I wanted, not through lack of available adjustments! If you search on Piston heads theres a whole thread about how many cars they've Fcuked up. Including some which ahve ended up in ditches! I would seriously advise anyone to avoid like the Plague!
New equipment they want that is a fcuking given. My Mrs could even see it was shite after 2 visits.
Looks like I will be checking the arms tomorrow then;):D
I watched him torque everything up:p
Just speaking from my experience
O
Just check the threads on Piston Heads for 100's of BAD experiences. They also Caned my car down the road when cold and fcucked about with the key fob so it lost it's marbles. they Aint good at all. But for Gods sake check everything they touched before something falls off!
Steering wheel is not centred
Car pulls to the left
Have noticed the same from mine and a steering wheel wobble at 70 which i'm putting down to front wheel balancing. 1 other thing that stands out is the rear wheels, 1 is clearly sat in the arch and the other is sat out with the tread just (only just) inside the arch.
For me it's the first time i've had a proper alignment set up but the above comments are raising 1 or 2 concerns :indiff:
p.s. is it true orchard are getting new kit in??
When I had my alignment done at Orchard a couple of months back they had ordered the kit but needed new ramps etc to go with it. Should be in soon.
The NSR unit at orchard is shafted, he was flicking the resistor and my tyre sat 1"out of the arch on that side.
Jim, Checked the locking nuts today:thumbs:
All tight but cheers for the heads up mate:D
Glad to hear you didn't get the same service as so many have recieved from Mototec. Maybe they've seen the bad press and kicked their guy up the back end. He certainly needed it!
