Wow, I loved the tactical element of Bad Company and this looks 10x nicer.
Demo just came out, downloading it now, will report back this evening, my poor 1.6meg connection will struggle to get the ~ 1.3gig download. parents also said we are at our internet usage limit, maybe a gig wont make too much difference lol. itll teach them for not getting unlimited!!
Demo is awesome, SO much prettier than the first one, WIll report back once i have played it proper

ah good jammie, im not the only one, was wondering why you were on mw2. What i want to know is why the fudge EA insist on having their own servers for every game they do, they are shite and always have problems. sort it out EA.

I loved 1943, been playing it alot as I'm sick of MW2, this looks way better than any COD, the beta was available in the US a month or so ago if you pre-ordered it on the PS3 so loads of clips on Youtube. Supposedly out the same day as GT5:rolleyes:

I agree I sold my copy ages ago, not as good as MW1 and offering nothing new at all IMHO. Hopefully this game will be something to keep my interest as I have seriously thought about selling my PS3.

Played the demo last night. I thought it was an unplayable mess. Maybe it was terrible lag, but I emptied an entire clip into someone and the just ran up to me and killed me instantly with a knife. Plus you can't straff until you stop moving forward/back. Got stuck on scenery if I was anywhere near it and I would move around on my own, even if I wasn't holding the controller.
Total shite, imo. Shame, as I quite enjoyed 1943.

II like it, Pretty good but they do need to sort out the servers as the lag is pretty bad sometimes.
Takes a while to get used to it tho, coming of MW2

I played it last night and thought it was total shit. Shame.
Iv'e only played the first one for about 1 hour! So many new games coming out, its hard to pick which one to play :wack:
i dont agree that its total shit at all, seems a pretty excessive statement. I think its good fun, it shouldnt be approached in the same manner as MW2, its a fun game, i dont give a toss if i win or lose cos i still managed to blow up a shit load of stuff. Also if you cant kill a guy with an entire clip you're doing it wrong. Ive killed people at range with about 5 bullets and yeh close up a bit more spraying is involved. There is a completely different feel to the game though, it just kind of feels a bit heavier, like your running in custard or your laces have been tied together. Once you get around that it becomes more enjoyable. Im not sure that ill buy it but for now its more fun than mw2. Also i havent really had problems with lag.
Play sent me a beta code but when I tried to register it said its already used... searched the web and a lot of people have had the same problem :(

i had a quick few rounds last night, but couldnt get into it, probably as i was playing on a 360 and im used to the ps3 now.

Been on the demo loads! (vbov) realy love it TBH, one or two of the servers give you a little lagg but I can forgive them that. All in all great little game, can't wiat for the full version.
Played a bit more and really like the concept and environment. The spawn system is spot on, destructible environments and a good selection of weaponry. It just does feel like its waddling in mud though.
Signed up and hopefully get onto the PC Beta test and try that version I reckon, should be brill with a proper mouse setup.
Been playing the Beta, its very good, all the good bits from the battlefield series, I miss the orders bit and the commander bit though.

Managed to get onto the PC beta and its much better. Had to turn everything down to medium though on a 4890. Need to get the other one out of the box and plug it in.
Doesn't feel like running in mud when you tweak it although suffering random connection losses. Anyone else got onto the pc beta?

Been playing the PS3 demo the last couple of days and I love it, MW2 has nothing on this.
i still think its turd, despite going back and playing it a few times. i dont know how you could compare it to mw2??? the movement is awful, im yet to successfully run into a building and straight upstairs, its literally not possible. you can also scale near vertical cliffs, but you very often get stuck on a very small ledge, the size of a step. and as has been said its like running knee deep in mud. i like the concept and the gameplay if only the movement was better.

Easy, PS3 version has no lag as yet and MW2 is repetitive as hell. Maybe its just my connection but I suffer from unbearable lag when playing MW2, and I've been against players who I have sneaked up on and blasted in the head or stabbed and they just turn round and shoot me in the shin and kill me.:annoyed:
its nothing to do with lag, the connection is fine. in the buiildings in the demo, the stars inside have a 90 degree bend in them. if you try and in one smooth motion run into the bulding and up the stairs, every time you fall off the stairs and like i say, you have to jump over some objects that are about as high as a step, its awful.

had some awesome games last night with 4 of us in a squad, Won every game so easy lol, One game when we were defending they didnt even get first the past two bomb sites :D

Neg, mine runs it fine, at a core 2 duo 2.66 (clocked to 3.5 on an air cooled £20 fan, cheeky not to really), 4 gig ram and single 4890 with 1gig. I have another card ready to go in, just never got round to updating the PSU.
It will actually run the game with everything on max at my res (1680x 1050) but to be playable I have it all on medium and it still looks great. A little slow down if too intense but no problem on the 32 man servers :D

Shall have to try it again, but Im sure I noticed a difference when changing textures, or it could have just been messing with the AA & AF.
Thinking about going I& as well but the I5s look good too, and they have the smaller cores avail now.

I got this for my pc this morning and I've been on it all day haha. Stunning, truly stunning. The new squad system is superb, the new gun unlock system is superb, the destructable terrain is superb..
So many times I've led a running firefight into a building and a tank takes down the whole structure on your head today, its fantastic.
Probably the best aspect is the realism, the noise, swearing, constant smoke and grit its the closet first person game to a real warzone out.
I ran out a span point and took cover by a friendly tank today, when it shot its cannon it rose all the dust into the air, deafened me and blasted out the windows of nearby buildings. Incredbile!

Oh yes and for long term battlefielders ea have finally made a working user panel for friends, fave servers, history, stats all integrated. Vast improvement on 2142.
My mates have been nagging me to buy this on xbox (8 of us play forza every Monday) but battlefiled is about massive scaling maps and mental capacity servers. If you limit it to 32 players and closed in maps like the call of duty games it wouldn't feel like a bf title. Plus controllers suck ass compared to precision mouse :D
How does it compare to the beta, Im awaiting my copy at the minute.
Its good fun but Ive been stuck on an early mission for ages :wack:

Just finished the single player, which is great, never a dull moment and the weapons are pretty good! Some of the vehicles drive better then some so called "Rally games" and the sounds are very realistic! The multiplayer is also pretty good, although It's not taking MW2's crown, its still great!

This is the most amazing game I've ever played... it makes my rig upgrade worth every penny. Multiplayer is awesome too.
Sam, how can you not say it doesn't beat MW2's multiplayer? MW2's IW.net and lack of dedicated servers makes it a bit of a joke on the PC, and although it is a lot of fun, it is a rather shallow game when you compare it to Bad Company, in my opinion anyway :)

Actually pissed off now...2 days I been listening to friends playing it and having fun...feeling left out and very very annoyed
The servers were only offline for half an hour or so tonight, and if the first connection attempt failed then a few retries and it usually works. My nick is dowcow, search for my clan servers =b()f= and there will usually be a good game on :)

Check the EA BFBC2 forums, there was some information about this problem during the beta. You're not on XP64 by any chance? It was almost impossible for most users of that to connect

I got it fixed,
Turns out they hid the game updater in the program file directory. Its an exe you run outside of the game and the game itself doesnt check for updates...
Anyways I ran the updater and its fine now...i like how you have the patch the game on release already...Thanks EA...*grumbles*

Its not as polished as MW2, but its a different kind of game, its more frantic then MW2, and its loads of fun!
MW2 is still the better game, and Im on console don't forget, so the servers arent an issue for me :)

I have a download rig with specs pretty much the same as that and it ran it fine 35-50fps at all times! Great cpus the q6600's!
The sound is awesome too. When a tank shell goes off next to you and you get a bass drop like in the Transformers movies... and its difficult to aim your gun then too and really feels quite like you've just had a tank round explode next to you :)
Hmmm, is it worth upgrading my Mobo, gfx and processor, or just the processor and GFX?

It is simply addictive...I never got into MW2 but this is a different ball game. When the tanks starts to shoot you while you hide in the building...you then start to realise that the building is going to collapse on you..and the wall you are hiding behind has been blown out...you turn around stare at the tank and think..."oh ****"....
I do feel snipers are started to ruin the game very very slightly. But still very enjoyable. EA do need to sort the servers and bugs out though.
Also...dont get in into any type of air craft with me o.0
I don't know if this is connected to EA Online being overloaded at the moment, but a load of our clan members were sending friend requests yesterday which people weren't receiving. Some of us also get disconnected from EA occasionally. It seems they underestimated the popularity of this game.
Apparently there are more BFBC2 players online at the moment than BF2 players, which has been in the top 5 since its release 5 years ago for the number of active players.

Yeah the underestimated its popularity which is a bad/good thing at the same time. However they should have sorted out the servers in beta and they know that.
The punkbusters init error that drops you 5 mins into the game sucks. The Server overloading and kicking everyone off the server sucks. The game crashing and completely disappearing also is annoying (happened to me about 5 times yesterday).
The game isn't stable yet but they released it anyways for people to test. The beta should have ironed all of this out. Thats what annoyed me. Let alone why it doesn't run auto update when you start is beyond me.
But they are trying to fix it all as we speak with is a good thing I suppose. I was extremely pissed off though.
Cant get on with Xbox 360 :(

Shame, you think they would have learnt to provide more bandwidth by now. The same thing happened with the first EA Server game I played Burnout 3 on the Xbox. You couldn't play it for about a week.
I notice on the front end of the Xbox version it mentions connectivity issues. I haven't had any.
I'm loving the game though, I didn't think I would be able to play MP games without people I know in there. I usually get bored quickly. However I've put a fair few hours into this. It's quality. I think I played MW2 for about an hour, got pwned and gave up. I like that it's less manic a lot of the time, especially when you're defending.

Wallers I found mw2 too bias towards the people that are on level 60. I got sick and tired of some level 60 with no walking noise fast movement and a knife running around knifing me. In this its more balanced so low levels can still kill high levellers which is a good thing :)
All the guns feel the same to me, I just use any gun, and can't really tell the difference :wack:
Really good fun though, especially running people over in tanks! I tried to fly a UAV in to someone yesterday, but it didn't kill them :(
Anyone got a link to the PC demo download? I can only see XBox and PS3 links on their site and I want to try it out on my laptop before commiting to buying it

Getting this tomorrow bundled with my new PS3 slim :) hopefully it will take away some of the pain of having to replace a console after 18 months (YLOD)

There is no PC demo, although I believe a lot of people were playing the single player game before release day, with copies obtained via aaar arrrr matey walk the plank or something like that. It might be as well to try that out to see if your computer can run it, most people I know that wanted to play pre-ordered and got on the beta. Quite a few of us ended up upgrading our computers just for this game after finding the beta heavy going on machines just a few years old.
anyone know if they have sorted the servers out yet?

lol I was already on vent with my clanmates. I'm "=scum= Foot_Of_God. At one point I was firing tank shells past your head to try and get the guy in the building behind you. Was fighting alongside "=scum= Fazerboy.

Just played for a while and there were two guys on the opposing team with 20:1 K/D ratios. The wouldnt have it and said I was just shit.
But you can tell people using them. Had one suspected guy in my sights, no way he could know where I was but strangley moved. Then appererd in another window. This happened about 8 times in the space of a minuet. Bloody aimbotters with warning saying poeple are aiming at you.
Oh and the magicial kill you at a 100yards with a single head shot from a handgun.:wack:

lol I've been on since I finished dinner, great games. one annoying map which had an aimboting sniper, so we left.

Bullet reg did seem a bit off. sometimes aiming high gets a head shot with the sniper other times you need to aim low.

Ditto had to have like a mate outside of the squad...was tagging in and out with a 5 folk random play depending on dinners and stuff lol.
Was really fun though and we seemed to win most of the time. Dont get me started on snipers.

Yep, as it was aimed at the console market, it is split into quite a few threads and everything is done on the cpu since xbox and ps3 both have plenty of processing cores but fairly poor graphics processing, when compared to a modern PC graphics card. There is some work on the GPU, but for a lot of people they won't notice any difference in framerate between low and high graphics settings due to it being limited by their cpu.
That Core2Duo at 2ghz is the minimum they recommend, but for some reason it needs quite a bit more for AMD X2's, but tri-cores handle it much better. If you have a quad core, you're laughing.
even my old x2 2100 runs smooth enough.

I'm loving the various tank upgrades. The extra weapon when using the apc/bradley is so uselful. Faster reloading when in a tank is a must, I won a 3vs1 tank duel due to it..... and being a sneaky bugger, in an Abrams ffs lol
I usually use the extra armour in the tank, makes it last a lot longer!
I also just found out that if you use the Vehicle Repair tool on an enemy tank, it damages it :wack:
Blown up about 4 tanks by doing this now!

LMAO didn't know about that, I know you can kill foot sloggers with it and the defib. Only pulled it off with the defib so far lol

You can also do the amusing thing of jumping out when someones doing it to you, wait for them to repair is a bit, knife them in the face and drive off in your newly repaired v-hick-le! :wack: :D
A few people actually tried that, but I noticed that the damage had stopped, turned round, and shot them in the face :wack: Another good one is running round the tank, and putting a bit of C4 on it, then boom, up it goes! Or placing anti tank mines near the opositions deployment, all though that is a bit of a c**ts trick, its still highly amusing watching them get in there nice new tank then dying instantly :wack:
Unlike MW2, I dont actually mind dieing and I don't seek instant revenge :D

I like the Assault class, but theres never anything to damage vehicles with, so Im usually an Engineer!
How the f**k do you ge the M1 Garand, Ive been on the legends website, listed Battlefield Bad Company 1, and Battlefield Heroes, but it wount let me list bad company 2 and the bloody Garand wont unluck!! I want that gun, its so powerful, pretty much 1 shot kill!
EDIT: Managed to get it in the end, its awesome!! My favourite gun yet by far :D

Ok do tell how you get it then.
First of all you need to go to EA and create an account linked to your Xbox 360 Gamertag/PSN Gamertag/PC Gamertag. Once youve done that you need to go on the Battlefield Veterens website, if you had the first Bad Company, you can register that, and then go to Battlefield Heros website, its a little online game, create a character and link it to an EA account, then this will also show up on the Veterens website, then add Bad Company 2 to the website, and the gun will open up in the game!!
You need a few Battlefield games registered on the Veteren website, then you get the gun basically!
Heres the Heros website, its free and gets you a game towards your veteren status:

Its down at the minute, I went on EA live support and they added it manualy for me :)

Good first 2 games alongside you dow last night. Sorry if I was getting annoying sniping from the hill. I got trapped there after you took the first 2 bases. I ended up running out of sniper and tracer dart rounds. I figured just mortar'ing from up there all game would be to unsportsman like, so walked down the hill in plain view lol..
Enjoyed playing alongside both of you... although I stayed up way too late when I was up again at 6 this morning. I was so tired I could hardly hit a thing, but was still raking in points with ammo bags and medi-kits. Time for another game, but going to investigate the Battlefield Veterans site first :)

I've got it on PS3.
It genuinely is an epic game. Not a match goes by without something unutterably awesome happening. The Anti-Tank mines make the engineer class worthwhile on their own, and Running as a medic is ace for points. So much more fun and less frustrating than MW2, even when you're losing there's something fun to try out.
The players seem a little more mature than MW2 as well. I was getting tired of all the swearing in between games, and racism and all that jazz when I just wanted to relax and play a game. The Ethos of BC2 is much more about co-operation...
Although I did run up to a recon team mate on hardcore, to throw him a medikit as he was injured. I did that, then he shot me, then stole my kit and revived me, leaving me with a red beret on and a freaking sniper rifle?! WTF? Did you need the 40 points for a revive that badly or what! It was funny, in an annoying kind of way....
A thing thats annoying me is, if you get any points while your dead, they dont get added on to your score :(
I blew up a tank carrying 4 people with an anti tank mine when I was dead, so got over 300 points, and they didn't get added on to my score, because I was dead when it happened! Its happened quite alot now, must have missed out on about 3000 points altogether!
Ive got it on PS3, how many and on pc? I prefer pc but assumed PS3 would be more popular on here.
Got it, started on the solo misison and lost patience within 5 mins, just wasnt up for it yesterday.

I am on the PC due to me playing with folk on PC's :) had a few games with Trick and Foot of God and saw Carta on :D
bren it gets so much more fun when you are playing the multiplayer if you do :) the game was designed for PS3 I think originally and ported to PC and xbox
I imagine it is, I just wanted to get a handle on weapons and game play first :)

PC users, anyone notice the patch to be actually shit? Before the patch I could pull 60-70fps constantly and now i get 20. Also cant play the single player either. Anyone else had this?

They did a few things but not that it is noticable to me. The FPS drops may be due to the high load of users on screen, I know mines drops when theres 4 tanks and about 15 people on screen...
Yeah but tuesday it was fine, 15+ and explosions and shit popping off and not a drop, today after the patch laggy as sin!
I didn't notice anything to be honest. I had just upgraded my graphics drivers to the 10.3a pre-release though, which seems to have unlocked a bit more speed from my card. It seems ATI have had a bit left in reserve on their 5 series cards, which the new drivers are unleashing with every release.
For example, my 5870 is now quicker with the Heaven benchmark at 1920x1080 than it was at 1680x1050.
Anyway, try running in DX9 if you are using a dual core processor as apposed to 3 or 4 cores. I read on the EA forum dx10 or above is killing frame rates on dual cores.

Its a Vapor-X unit so the fan is in the middle of the card as apposed to at one end like the standard 5870's.
Thanks for that, its just strange that yesterday it was smooth on full everything and today I get 10fps. I am using the 10.3 drivers also. Not a massive issue but just thought I would share

Well patched it and no noticeable drop in fps. also did some of those tweaks and again nothing noticeable. Im getting 50-60 with a drop into the 40s in intense 32 man server games so more then enough grunt, but if anything its a cpu bottleneck now I reckon.
Its all fine now, dunno what happpened but getting 60-70fps constant even with explosions and shiz!
Flying UAV's in to people and getting road kills is cracking me up :wack:

That's the biggest problem with the game, the idiots who play them.
You can spot the people new to BattleField and that have been big COD players as they don't do anything to help their team, just go for KDR. And I think a lot of the snipers often have old computers that aren't quick enough to handle intensive battles so they sit back and snipe.
We've got our first clan war this weekend, which I'm really looking forward to seeing how the game plays out when both sides are playing for the win and to hell with the points (clan battles are played with unranked servers). Most of us always play to win anyway, as theres no point having a great KDR but little squad skill if you want to play matches.
My biggest issue with the game is the ease at which the sides become unbalanced. I try to swap sides to the smaller team as often as I can, but it only allows you to swap so many times per match, and it gets tedious being on the loosing side all the time. One time I swapped, no-one else would, so I just told the 4 players on the small team (vs about 8 others) to swap to the larger team or leave and screw the other players out of their rape fest.

Thats the thing the winning team joiners piss me off...as with the camping snipers...10 snipers, if one doesnt get you the other will.
Dont get me started on nade spamming too...
If you dont like people spawn camping, play Rush instead, the spawn points are out of bounds to the opposition :)
Its not really the spawn camping, half the time the camping snipers are a bigger problem for their own team.
The trouble with Rush games and the snipers is that if half of your team when attacking are snipers, they do nothing to plant charges and stop them from being de-fused. If 4 or 5 of your team are hidden behind trees, it means that there are only a few people able to rush the m-coms, and are much easier to pick off by the defenders than if there were more of you. Forget getting revived, forget having another squad member to spawn on if you do die, and forget having much chance at all if you run into more than a couple of enemies at once. The sniper might pick them off after you die. Big f-cking woo. His KDR goes up. Nothing is gained for the team.
Fair enough having lots of snipers around when defending helps to slow down the enemy getting to the m-com station in the first place, but even then, all it takes is for one guy to slip through the snipers lining up half way between the spawn area and the base, and his squad mates then spawn on him, and they then tear up the base and have a party on the m-coms as there is no sod left in the base to defend it. Then the base goes, and the path to the next base is made so much easier because half the snipers are still half way to the old base still trying to pick of another cheap kill or two.

I just bought this the other day instead of MOH.
By god am I rubbish at online play, but it feels so much better/more involved than MW2.
I believe there will be a lot of annoyed people on my side for a while!
Reading this back now makes me feel a bit of a knob for complaining about how other people play the game... but they still piss me off sometimes! :D
I stopped playing this game so much for a few weeks as I just used to get wound up every time I played, but enjoying it again now.
Me too, now I run around littering the place with mines. When one go's up it always brings a smile no matter how bad I'm doing.
My Favourite are the ones laid outside my own base taking out cheeky beggers who've just been and nicked a tank :smash:

I have borrowed this from a friend having not played the Battlefield franchise before and I'm undecided.
I expected a serious storied FPS like CoD or MoH, instead I got kind of a cross between CoD and The A-Team :wack: It's good in that way though, the characters are funny and the anti CoD digs are hilarious, but bits like the Black Hawk pilot being a hippy and wearing no flight gear take something away from it. I'm well into the single player as it's quite an engrossing story and well thought out but it feels a bit lack lustre.
However, some of the Vistas are amazing, graphically awesome. Rushing some jungle complex from the top of a hill, looking around at crisp HD scenery stretching for miles made me stop and look again.
Will look into the multiplayer tonight I guess. Hope it's as good as it has been made out.
Just finished BF BC2 in first person. Good fun.

Single player is...well I'm not sure tbh. Not finished it.
Multi player is amazing imho. You generaly do need to work with a squad and your team to get the job done and a good score.
As far as vs mw3 goes. I cant say, not played MW onlince since mw2 and hated it so quickly.
But most hate towards bf3 I've seen is from mw players who have not tried it or people who played the alpha or beta and didn't like that so have not got the full version.
