can any one give me a little info on how to use these boards as im brand new here ie-
if i post new topic how long does it stay on boards?
wots a thread??
why does it go into e mail?:o
can users tell if certain people r online
sorry if i seem thick,or are there instructions some where??:o
in other words do i have keep popping back to my message to see if anyones replied??
wen i read a page do i have to scrole back to top of page??:cry:

Subjects that are currently in the forum. 'Using these boards' is the name of this thread.

You can set it to notify you by email when someone replies to a thread you're subscribed to. Replying to a thread automatically subscribes you to it.

Yes, it tells you who is looking at each forum at the top of the list of threads, and everyone on the site on the main forum page (http://www.sxoc.com/vbb/index.php?s=), but only if they're logged in.

You can also tell if someone is on line by the colour of the tick at the bottom left of their reply to a thread. Yellow means on line, blue means off

Not really, I don't think other users can tell if you've subscribed.
I don't subscribe to any threads cos my e mail was getting clogged when threads like mallets mallet start and get thousands of replies you get an e mail for each one. This does make it difficult to tell which threads you have replied to though
is it possible for me to change my name? ie-lenso

On the first page of the board you see a list of the topic areas down the left eg s13 technical, ice etc and on the right hand side is the name of the person who moderates that section eg Steve Carter, Stuymac. Click on one of the names to send them a PM (private message) and ask them to change your name

Not until you have a certain number of posts, 500 I think.
You get a sticker and discounts from some suppliers and first dibs on club events etc if you join and if you use the board a lot it's only right you should join because the membership fees help pay for the upkeep of the site

im just tryin to find out why,wen people tell me sell the car!! in five years time you'l only get 500 quid for it ,then wen i came on these boards,theres people spending lots of money on um,but is it wasted cash...some would say yes!:o :(
then at the end of the day a fair few cars apparently from wot ive been told,could actualy burn the 200sx off :o or is it a cultural thing,sorry if this sownds sarcastic :( :)
I've spent $$$$$$ :cry: but i would'nt change that 1 bit, pure enjoyment of the 200 :thumbs: :thumbs:
There's not that much that can burn a 200 off, even less if you spend money modifying it to go faster. It's a hobby to a lot of people on here, like spending money tavelling all round the country (and to other countries) to watch football matches. That costs a lot and you don't get anything other than memories of a good time.
If you are thinking purely in terms of resale value then spending money on modifying is wasted cash because you won't get much more for a modded car when you sell it.
The s13 200sx is getting a rare sight on the roads, there are lots here being broken for spares because they have been crashed or will cost a fortune to repair so in five years time they could be quite rare and holding their value well. You never know.
good point on the rare bit i agree to that...but about the burnoff bit ,for a start u got subaru's,cosworths,evos,celica gt4's & a few more i think &,as far as i know they would whoop the 200's but... by the way r u talkin s13 or 14 or both

No offence taken, I and the others here aren't the sort to say our cars are better than others when they aren't
I'm talking generally about the s13 and s14 as the performance is similar, s14 has slightly more power.
The Subaru debate has been rumbling for ages - and it depends which model. They have more power but lose more through the transmission, more grip etc it goes on but a standard Scooby won't leave a standard 200 for dead, it would be quite close (except in the wet as Scooby owners like to remind us)
The Cosworth and the GT4 and the EVO fair enough, and even the WRX, but remember these are essentially homologation cars (well the early Cosworths were anyway), roadgoing rally cars and you're not really comparing like for like.
Sure there are cars that are faster than a 200 but not loads and those there are won't leave a 200 like they would a Saxo if you see what I mean, and certainly not for the same money especially when we're talking about the s13.
Speed isn't everything though :D

Not much you can get for £2500 thats as quick as a 200sx. I looked into getting a Celica GT4 but the cheapest they get is about £3000, the insurance is more and it'd prolly go through tires quicker being 4x4?
I heard if you get new tires on a 4x4 you've gotta replace all 4 at once or it'll knacker it. Anyone know if this is true?
Plus none of the impreza/evo etc type cars drift like an sx.

After all the time money and effort you might as well use it, if not It's like painting a masterpeice and sticking it in the loft.
fair comment,but surely you could go sideways in summut not so tidy or expensive to run?
sorry if i sound like a killjoy,but on the video the guys car looks damaged
maybe its a rich mans game
but im not rich by no means & i dont begrudge anyone avin fun :D
maybe one day il get to one of these do's,it looks like fun anyway
