I am torn, i have a love thing going with my *****, but i also have an unbearing passion for a 3rd gen RX7 i have seen the car below, and am now really torn between the two.

http://the-brotherhood.freeservers.com/RX7.jpg

The ***** to get it to where i want it, is gonna cost me the best part of 4 grand, where as the 7 has everything already done Kit rims IC Turbo Timer ECU Zaust running 400bhp. BUT i have a lot of other things to take into account.

19 MPG  on motorway (single figures when thrashing it  )

Engines that go after 60k costing 2-3k for a rebuild.

Insurance another £400

BUT

They are meant to be the drive of your life  sound like a fighter plane and go round corners like there on rails. There's a great video on the link below of a battle between

NSX
R33 GTR
R34
Evo
And a RX7

Download here the video called Tsukuba Battle Video (http://www.mymazdarotary.com/various_videos/various/various_videos.htm)

Even a R34 couldnt catch the 7.

So basically i gotta lot of things to think about, and i need your help

If you can afford the considerable upkeep, then go for it!

Being sensible is something you can do when your old! :D

Time to enjoy yourself when ya young!

I have two words. Running. Costs.

If you can afford them - and I mean really afford, not just sort of if I never go out and stop smoking etc., but really afford them, then go for it mate. They are beasts. :)

I'd buy an RX7 if I had the money, I think they are the most beautiful mass produced car of the past.... well, ever!

Can't say i like them much, never driven one tho.
and... in a hideous generalisation, all the 7 owners i've met at shows seem total and utter tossers imho.

sure they are nice cars tho.. would still prefer an NSX speaking personally...

gen III Rex will most likely be my next car, unless any1 can think of something else as gorgeous, turbocharged, rear wheel drive???

I will never ever buy a standard car again tho, with the money I've spent on mine, I could have bought a modded Rex and had money left over for running costs :) Don't get me wrong, I don't regret doing any of it atall, nor will I stop modding my 200 at any point soon ;).... at the moment, its my perfect car, I just know that unfortunatly I will 1 day have finished modding it, and will suddenly want a new challenge :D

Im sure I saw a very nice black one down sarfend seafront one time, yummy!

Red one in the piccy looks very tasty though and is a much easier colour to keep looking clean. Did they do any metallics/pearlescents?, ive only ever seen red and black (the red one had a monster of a rear wing on it, looked the part though and suited the car :D )

Whats the servicing like? All I have heard is that the engines need a rebuild @~60k miles.

Supposed to be between 60-70 k all depending on how its been looked after, 3k oil change etc...
