got a mate (Idiot) with a 92 import na mr2 which he reckons is a rev 4 with 180 bhp ish.

on my private of a corner up to a set point (bridge) i can hit 105mph now with volvo ic fitted.

he reckons his toyo whatever it is can hit 105 mph.
it still however has a limiter fitted but goes of the 120mph speedo before hitting limit thing. thought these where 113 mph limit.

however when chasing him with me starting behind of a roundabout on my private estate i was alongside him by the time i was changing from 2nd to 3rd and then continued to pull away.

does anyone know the figure for the mr2 with soft tyres.

ie bhp and 60 time, also speed limit cut...
will have a t28 soon too :D :D

The different types of import MR2s are:
(Pulled from www.imoc.co.uk)

Coupe 119bhp 1990-1992 No rear spoiler, 14" wheels
GT Coupe 158bhp 1990-1994 Rear spoiler, sunroof, 14" wheels, square rear light cluster
GT T-Bar 158bhp 1990-1994 Rear spoiler, removable roof panels, 14"wheels, square rear light cluster
GT Coupe 175bhp 1994-1998 Rear spoiler, sunroof, 15" wheels, round rear light cluster
GT T-Bar 175bhp 1994-1998 Rear spoiler, removable roof panels, 15" wheels, round rear light cluster
10th Aniv 175bhp 1995 Wooden steering wheel, chrome kick plates, different wheels, 10th aniv badge
GT Coupe 175bhp 1998-2000 Round spoke 15" wheels, large adjustable rear spoiler, clear front light cluster

0-60 times are apparently around 6-7, so I'd expect it to be a fairly close run thing.

I've got a little Mk1 MR2, so I'll just watch you lot disappear off into the distance.... ;) Fun round corners though.

The fastest NA MR2 is the G-limited import with 167bhp.

They stay with you and even get ahead in 1st and 2nd but soon as your in 3rd you will own them.

1992 MR2 is a rev 2 not a rev 4. Rev 3's didn't come in until late 93/94 and the rev 4's were a couple of years after that.
If it has a limiter fitted (most are removed though) then it will be 112mph.

0-60 on the N/a is low mid 7's and are nowhere near as fast as my S14a, but have never been in or driven an S13 so couldn't comment.

BHP for the UK car is 158 but the imports were setup for higher octane fuel sa may have more power but it will be a FEW BHP max.

Hope this helps.

Twin turbo import MR2 is about 220bhp.
Still a bit fey though.

rev 1 and 2 turbos (all imports) are single turbo T26 with twin entry. These are 220 bhp as standard. The rev 3 onward are again twin entry T20's but run higher boost as standard. These are 245 bhp and got like the preverbial sh!t off a shovel.:D

Other than the differences in which turbo they use and the boost level, are there any differences to the engine internals from rev 2 compared to rev 3?

Just wondering cos I've heard the rev 3's (and 4's) have higher tuning potential but I can't see why if it's just a case of a different tubby and boost level between the two

Anyone care to enlighten me :)

When my motorbike was restricted to 112mph, the speedo would show 120+ when you hit the limiter, car speedos are pretty inacurate, more so above 100.

Most import Toyota's will do 200kmh (120mph i think) before the speed cut hits. This was off the clock in the case of the Starlet i had, stopped at 180kmh, needle keeps going for a bit.. But usually the speedo will suggest a faster speed than you are actually doing..

I take it you mean twin entry turbo? ;) Otherwise thats a pretty poor power output for twin turbos

There are more differences than just the turbo and boost level. I *believe* that the bottom ends were different, don't quote me on that though! You can tune both engines with similar results I think but they do see quite difficult to get a LOT more power out of without spending shed loads of cash. The most powerful one on the IMOC board when I was there I think was circa 360 and he had to do a fair bit to the engine to get to that level. Other differences after rev 2 were maily brakes and suspension setups.
