View Full Version : Screwed on e-bay
I bought a new subwoofer on e-bay after mine went pop. Got the sub but it didn't work  The seller said I could send it back and he'd refund me so I got it off in the post grateful that he'd offered me a refund :)
Now the guy has unregistered from e-bay (so I can't complain)and won't answer my e-mails :( Is there anything I can do as I'm down £72 with bugger all to show for it
I have his address but don't fancy travelling to Stevenage to knock on his door (anyone else want to, for a share of the recovered funds ;) ).
Lesson learnt, I am not buying anything electrical from e-bay any more
Gutted for you mate, Ebay have a buyer protection programme to cover against fraudulent use , and I think you can claim back up to £105, dont know if that will help, have you contacted ebay yet, although he has deregistered, he still used them to sell the speaker so they should accept some responsibility

How did you pay? If it was by Paypal or some other online payment method then I'm sure they have a policy against this kind of thing...(?) Look in the help section.
If it was by cheque then I'm not sure what to suggest.
contact Ebay. You can claim the loss back on EBay's insurance programme, as long as you can prove it.
It may take a while, took me nearly 2 months

 I like this idea better, shame i dont live near else i would :)
I paid by cheque  I didn't realise e-bay have insurance, I will try to get in contact with them to see what I can sort. Thanks guys, I have hope :)
I had thought I was a sensible e-bayer as I only ever buy off people with plenty of good feedback, this guy had 50+ positive comments, but mostly from selling cheapo bits and bobs. Perhaps he saw his opportunity to bugger off with some free cash and took it?

will do! hahahhaha.
I know of a few sites that blatantly sell on your email address, it should basically render his address useless!
I'll come with you to Stevenage for some 'revenge' mate - have you got room in the back of your car for a couple of anti-tank missile launchers? :D
Nah bollocks to that, lets get JB to send an e-mail to NTL and get his Internet, Phone, and TV all switched off....miles more fun ;)

hasn't some bloke just been in court for sending something like 8 billion un wanted e mails - still as much as i'd like to see ya get this guy, atleast ebay provide some sort of compensation.....
as a seller and buyer i hate the fact that people can get my address on e bay.....
if you have problems with a sale, as long as you have the item number and their ebay name you can request contact info and it gives you their telephone number (provided it's a real one) .......
isn't it 141 to with hold your number?.....
Just use his e-mail address to register on loads of free porn sites or any other free site for that matter - he'll get bombarded with thousands of junk mails!:finger:

I'm meant to write an article for a magazine on using ebay. Any tips for people to avoid trouble?
