I've just put in a new Alpine ida-x303 head unit into my S14, its the first time the unit has been changed since the car was imported and I found the radio connector is two prongs rather than the UK conventional one prong.

I used to own an FTO and didn't have this problem - is there a convertor available or am I looking at completely replacing the entire aerial unit and wiring?

Has anybody else had this problem - what did you do and did it work?

You need a special converter cable/connector/thingy. Auto leads do one but I cant remeber the part code.
Do a search for "aerial" or something along that line and it shoud come up:thumbs:

Ah, that brings back distant memories - I remember finding this on my UK S13 years ago. One of the prongs goes to the electric aerial, the other is to an AM aerial built into the rear windscreen.

I decided to forget about AM, lopped the plug off and put a normal one on using the FM wires :wack: :smash:

(converter is tidier, do they join the two leads together or just use the FM electric one though? )

It only connects to the electric aerial only. The other connector just hangs loose.
Annoyingly even when playing cds or connecting my mp3 player the aerial still goes up. There seems to be a random switch on my dash that should control that but it does nothing.

lol No I have a different button for that. Weirdly its a different one from the front fogs (which I did not know I had till I was pressing buttons whilst a mate was stood in front of the car, Its a sil80 so buttons/wires are a little screwy)

here is my button, Any ideas:
