Has anybody get any experience with these, or perhaps currently take part in them?
From the little I have read about them, they look like quite good fun... I'd quite like to give one a go...
Can somebody point me in the right direction perhaps?
Thanks!
Ben

Did ones years back, classic in monte carlo and it was brilliant, if not very stressful fella. My uncle does them all the time, and the old mans done a few, ill find out some info for you! You thinking about the driving/navigating side? Makes a huge difference?

I was thinking of driving, and I have a couple of people in mind as navigators :) I was hoping it would be something I could get into in the evenings here :)

Nobody else have any experience of these? :(
Its probably not your favorite place , but plenty of Road rallies in south/mid wales:nod:
Never raced but marshalled and course car'd a few.
Find your most local moter club that runs one, join have a chat with them and get hold of a copy of the regs:thumbs:
Your 205 will be great for it:nod:

I know the 205 would be great for it... but it will be getting sold shortly, as it's too nice to ruin...
However the S15 I was thinking could be a bit of fun too!

S15 would be fun, but imo more hard work!! But you would still enjoy yourself fella. Driving is the easiest part in my mind, i prefer that than navigating, and monitoring the clocks. You need someone who is very good with a map, very patience, and good with in head calculations to do well, but im sure there are a few. Also, no travel sickness problems, you dont get to look up much to be honest!!
As said you need to find you local motor club. Don't think your s15 will be able to compete on the road rallies. No more than 4 cylinders, no turbo. No 4wd aswell but that doesn't affect you.
Was thinking competing myself a few year ago. But i had a mazda 323 4wd turbo. So i was only allowed on the navigational run.
But go for a chat and see what you think.
Yeah you need to a member of a club for most events. I was a navigator for about 2 years it was good fun but hard work. You will also need a MSA licence, I cant remember what class you need though.

No more than 4 cylinders? :( Would they know if i kept the bonnet closed? :wack:
I wouldn't expect to win, just want to get involved for some fun!

:nod:Scrutineering (I know thats probably not spelt right:D) and noise check before each event:D
With the S15 in mind apart from the fact tubbys not aloud ,Most the ones I've been part of have been 80% public highway (Grass in the middle of the road hedge clipping mirrors) but still 60mph road:eek: 10% Forrestey comission land gravely lose material stages, and 10% private land usually lots of mud lol. don't think it would cut it anyway:D
Lots of fun to be had flogging the life out of a lil 1.3, Eg polo. Good class to begin with too:nod:
And as for moter clubs heres my local as an example:thumbs:

I need to sell the 205... I need the money... but meh, it'd be sooo ideal!
S15 is out in so many ways, unless I can blag it into a classic event... wont be long now :wack:

I have a mate who road rallies an ibiza 1.6 its completely bog standard but he is unbelievably quick. I have navagated for him at salisbury plain but that was an off road safari thingy.
I'll get some info from him but iam sure he said it stupid cheap. Like £12 a yr membership and £5 an event?? I'll ask him.
Personally I think you need something fwd and hatch back size because the lanes down here will ruin your s15.
Cheers

I have done a fair few scatter rallies in the past as a navigator. Even managed to win Junior Navigator of the Year on one occasion. It was great fun to do. If you need to work on map reading skills I can recommend it, I got so good on an OS map that me and a mate had to drive through a forest in thick fog (couldn't see end of bonnet) for the Network Q rally a few years ago. I was reading and calling the track and he was just turning blind relying on what I said :)
Scatter rallies are dirt cheap, a few quid to enter with your local club. They are on the public highway but its very competitive. You don't need full prepped cars or anything like that and is a great way to spend a few hours of an evening
