View Full Version : Knockhill
Seeing as the Knockhill trackday is only a couple of weeks away could peeps pls list what is needed for the day, driving licence, insurance docs, MOT docs, helmets, money etc.
Also, has anyone thought about new brake pads for the day?
My pads are down to 5mm and I dont know if I should get a new set beforehand as the Pulsar brakes are prone to brake fade!
What are my best choice of pads?
Cheers
Graham.

Gee,
try Pagid fast road pads  . Nice bite and no fade (not yet anyway).
If you can be arsed goin' a run down to Helensburgh, you can get 'em cheap from 'Need for Speed':
https://www.needforspeed.co.uk/pages/sbv_pl.asp?Vehicle=NSSUN01&PartType=BRP02
Oh btw mine squeek like a buggered mouse but that's pro'lly due to me not greasing them well
 .
Jonny
PS. they do mailorder but it's quite pricey for delivery.
Cheers Johnny,
They might be just what I am looking for the now cause I cant afford much as I go on holiday in 8 weeks and still need to get the usual clothes and some spending money, but after my holiday I am gonna start modding the R.
Firts thing on my list is a Big brake conversion along with Cobra Sidewinder seats and water injection followed by an Apex boost controller set at 1.2 bar.
Hopefully this should see me with around 320 - 330bhp.
check out my first post on Knockhill thread for requirements... basically, I think you only need the car! As for preps, I've converted to dot 5.1 and have pagids (I hear redstuff are better though). Make sure engine oil and petrol are full and tyres pumped up evenly. Take clean change of underwear too and some mars bars for me....
I got mintex 1144 coming to me, i believe these are better than redstuff
I assume the same peeps will be bringing camcorders for some knockhill racing action?
I hope to be bringing one to add footage to the Crail footage I got last year of myself , Kev, and Dunc on the oval and me beating the Skyline GTS-T:D
BTW peeps, after a wee chat with Bren yesterday whilst ordering my brake pads I have decided that 6 months without a 2***** is far too long and I am planning to buy a late S14a and carry out some serious modding on it:D
Dont think I will be able to get one until after the new year tho:(
No Kev, I'll be selling the GTiR first:rolleyes: :D
too bloody indecisive then:p :finger:
where/when are we all meeting?

I'll just be going straight there since I'll be using trade plates.
I just called Knockhill (01383 723337) they said we can arrive on 3rd June from 5:00, briefing starts 5:30 and track open at 6:00. They are expecting 30 cars total. The clubhouse (which serves food) is open to 8:00 when we all have to leave. You need to have a driving licence but they dont ask to see it... and that's it!
I'll be there for 5:00 with a full tank of Optimax (average 60mph x 2hrs = 1 tank)

If there's 30 cars I take it we won't get the full tracktime :( They won't let 30 cars on track at once will they? Its usually 10 at a time on hot hatch day whichs means only 1/3 of 2 hours time on the track.

you are probably right... might be a good thing though: spend some time off the track thinking about what went wrong last time and then to go back on and have another go?

Dont hold up much hope for a refund, if anyone hasnt booked that turns up you could see about offering it to them at a discount price.
And I'm more suicidal than depressed.  :(

...their number is 01383 723337. I doubt theyll do a refund but they may well defer your track day to a later date. Sorry about your big ends
thats a point..... i wonder how they would feel about deferring us all for a later date.... not too happy i dont suppose.
But would give us all a chance to get things sorted.
Might even get duncan a turbo

You get bored quick! What you getting now?
I love the Pulsar, I haven't came across anything on the road yet than can keep up with its acceleration but it doesn't feel like my car yet!
I bought it with all the mods and before I start getting more power from it I would need an uprated gearbox to stop it going bang every 5 mins(not cheap) and you cant exactly put a Jap drift style kit on it:(
I am planning on building a 350bhp+ Drift style kitted S14a complete with Jap split rims and race interior.
I think I have just got bored with not fiddling with me car every 5 mins like the old S13:D
