I'm using Ulead video studio, cos it was the only thing I could get a hack for, but I also need something to encode to DivX. I have ripped all footage from my camcorder from Japfest, but without going to VCD quality, 10 sec clips are 37 meg

Any help appreciated, only interested in Fee software ;)

This (http://www.dvdripguides.com/) site is good as a general guide to ripping and compressing DivX, and it gives links to lots of nice free software. If you want to take a pre-made video and turn it into a different format, then as mentioned, VirtualDub does the biz!

You might want to encode it in Xvid instead of DivX. That's what I did for some vids for people on here and they were all very impressed. It's noticably better than DivX, and all you have to do is download the codec.

Cheers.

I'm using that Xvid thingy, and it works wonders with ulead software :)

I tried the other program, but it would open up the captured footage for some reason

Anyway, I take it anyone who wants to see my files now will also need to install the xvid codec?
