Renewal is up soon and last time I changed, I was having a mega ballache finding someone who would insure my car as a 180SX.
That's...a 180SX, not a 200SX, not an almera, primera turbo, pulsar, or any of that crap...but as an actual, honest to god 180SX.

Given the plethora of 180s in the UK, now I'm sure the choices must've gone up, so...who're you all insured with?

I'm currently with Norwich Union Direct, via MCE but the prices are akin to dry rape, so I'd rather not stay with them...

Sky and A-Plan recognised the 180sx last time I tried (insurance was still ~£800 for me though, with a clean record - must be where I live :indiff: )

1400 fc with Flux, but im not totally conviced they know what is under the hood of the 180sx.

I dont know how many times i stated its a 180sx with a 2.0L under the bonnet but they always just reffered to it as a 1.8 at times . . .

Im 21 with 2 years no claims, which is why its a tad bit expensive! but hey, you get what you pay for :D

Sky wouldnt insure me cos of where i lived, but if i was living with my girlfriend it would have been 1200, oh an i needed to be 22 :S

try (a quote). they don't recognise it but they can put it in manually. or you could insure it as a 200sx with a 2.0l engine in it with them to. don't think it matters as there isn't a model name on the logbook so you wouldn't have a problem there

my brother insured his through them and he is 18 and got it for £1900 as a 200sx with a 2.0 litre engine.

me and my gf for our 180sx is £399 and thats insured as a 180sx through the same people

I'm with A plan too and the chap said he'd never heard of a 180SX but did put me on hold for a minute and when he came back he said he'd had a word with a colleague and then asked me if it was the s13 chassis with the SR20 engine....... i was impressed that he'd taken the time to find out what a 180 was..... he said they don't have it on record as such and he'd have put it down as a S13 Silvia.

Anyway i'm 32, full ncb, all mods declared £341 FC

first time i insured my 180 3years ago (irish insurance) they didn't have it on the system they got on to the supervisor and they quoted me for a primera because the 180sx wasn't on the system heh heh 22 with full licence 3years no claims only cost me 900 euro 100euro more than a nissan almera i have a trade policy now so i'm ok.the cost of insuring them now tho i'd say is ridiculous over here because there is loads of them on the road

A plan and Flux have always actually insured mine as a 180
the People at sky I've spoken to have always tried to insure it as either an S14 or an S13 Silvia and wouldn't accept it's neither of the above  One bloke (a scary heavy breathing type :wack:) tryed having an arguement with me that my car doesn't exist and he knew better than me, my car, and my V5 :annoyed:

I'm currently paying £300 fully comp all declared ect with A Plan due to being old :D (well, 29 but it feels old now )

Must be my area then, which isnt that bad an area in all honesty.

i was actually 20 at the time, with 2 years ncb, and it came to 1250 but i payed in 3 installments. in the end it cam to 1380, i said 1400 just for rounding offs sake :P

I didnt think that was too bad for a 2.0L T import :S

im with flux
the listed mine as a silvia 1994 2.0
im 39 with 8years no claims and 3 points living in london
£595 fully comp

i used to have a r32gts 2.0
they said it was the same for all skylines
i argued withe them and said its like having a 2.0 sierra and insuring it as a cosworth
it aint the same
they got in touch with nissan and then dvla and sorted it out
and i only paid £400 instead of £1200

If i wanted it FC it would be £900?! They dont offer the like for like or anything so thought whats the point FC, if i crash it ill repair/strip/breaK as they will offer me £2.50 for a G reg banger
Got a special deal as i was with them for my previous car (205 gti) and i wanted to cancel the policy as they dont insure imports and the bird was like, "let me sort you out something special, if you stay with us"

I was dreading insuring mine as Irish insurance companies tend to shit the bed when you mention a Jap import. I went with 123.ie who don't have it listed but insured it as a 2.0 200SX for 750 euro fully comp. I'm 26. Delighted is not the word!

It's insurance time for me again, i've been with aplan at around £850 mods declared, 27, 5yrs no claims.

I was hoping to get it on a classic policy as it's a 1994 so over 15 yrs old, does anybody have any recommendations?

EDIT: Haha scrap that, I just got a full comp quote with mods and 3k miles w/ breakdown cover on a classic policy for £490 :D Old ass cars FTW

BlazeSX
30-12-2009, 16:00

Well had to renew mines today but shouldn't of had to. Was driving my car last year with A-Quote, me and my girlfriend together was £399.99 so when I put the car off the road for the winter I swapped the insurance to a winter car (BMW 328i lol) and today the time had come to swap it back to the sil80. So phoned them up and they said there criteria had changed and can no longer insure that car again. How shit is that. As I was desperate I'm now paying £750 and had to call my car a silvia through diamond insurance for girls.
