Just thinking about it but an R33 2.5 Turbo skyline is in reach if I sell the S13 and my Fireblade, BUT,
Whats the crack with spares, easy to get hold of?
What are the running costs like? Similar to a 200SX?
They sound sooooooo nice! and more poke too!
You are right, they are incredible cars, I've had a go in a 500hp R33 GTR and it was amazing. The problem is that you are looking at the thick end of £15k for a nice well maintained GTR and the servicing costs, nevermind repair bills are in a different league to the 200. Big boys toys for big boys money.:(
The GTS-T is slightly cheaper but I don't think they are a hell of a lot cheaper to run than the GTR so you may as well go for the monster!
www.abbeymotorsport.co.uk know a bit if your serious.
well just had me r33 gtr serviced it costs bout 350 quid for a full service and bout same 4 a cam belt change as 4 parts u can get hold of most things it seems from the main tuners or other owners but it dose cost a bit more in general for parts and runing costs etc than a 200sx but u will have more fun an a bigger :D if u get 1 :)

have you considered a R32 GTST? they are very agile and also very quick! I was looking at R33 GTSTs but they are pretty big and bulky next to a 32. Also, parts for the RB20DET engine are pretty cheap and easy to get. a full gasket set from nissan is £128 plus vat, oil pump is £200, water pump is £67, cam belt is £36, EBC front pads are £95, rears £35, etc... They respond well to a mild tune and to be honest they must be one of the strongest engines going. for example on mondays drift day i drifted ALL day with the water temp regularly going near 100 and it took it NO problem, in fact it begs for more!
From personal experience i would go for the R32 GTST type M without ABS and without hicas (allthough in the first week of owning the car the hicas saved my bacon a couple of times, but now i'm used to it the hicas is long gone and good ridance! lol)
they are a little harder to find, but well worth it for the right one. it also depends if you like high speed or cornering ability. R33 stable high speed monster, R32 thoughbred tarmac terrorist! kinda like a cross between a S13 and S14 hooligan meets pimp type situation going on :D
hope that helps

The R32 GTST with the RB20DET cat be that quick as they only kick out 200bhp and the car weighs more than an S14. So in my book = slow (ish).

R32 with RB20DET is 220bhp standard. with a filter, exhaust, plugs and a boost up to 0.8bar my power meter reads 270bhp! not bad for an extra £500 spent ;) the R33 is 250bhp and 100kgs heavier! suppose its all down to taste. Im deffo an R32 rugged man.

Good article on the R32 GTS-t
http://www.autospeed.com/cms/article.html?&A=0853
I have had my car two weeks now and cant really comment on the cost of ownership yet, one thing to bear in mind is the cost of insurance is loads more for a GTSt compared to an S14... I could insure an S14 for about 700 squids but the cheapest I could get for my Skyline (which I ended up paying) was £1063!!! :(
I am having the car fully serviced at Grey Devil Industries in Cambridge on the 27th of this month, including cambelt change, I will let you know how much it stings my wallet for!! :)
Oh and as for MPG if you are interested, 20-24MPG I have managed so far, which for a 2.5 Straight Six turbo I thought was pretty good!! :)

These guys any good?? I thought the only qualification you needed to be a mechanic in Cambridge was to fail the "arse and elbow" distinction test ...............
A few of the guys on the Skyline Owners (http://www.skylineowners.com/forums) board use him, I have had to wait 2 weeks to get mine booked in as he is busy building up a couple of RB26DETTs for some customers, so hopefully it should be in good hands.... I hope... its always nerving when you take your car somewhere new, but he sounds like a decent sort of chap! :)

An R32 GTS-T does sound like a good option, my mistake about the two near me they are in fact R32 models. Affordable, tuneable, and sound awesome!
BUT
I am fitting the engine in my S13 this weekend after a complete rebuild (was just gonna do the big ends....) so when its run in the temptation may subside with a bit of drifting!
Another thought, an R32 2 litre straight six motor, in an S13, hhhhmmmmm. One thing at a time !
