And it appears Tony "Smarm-meister" Blair is a user of this board! Welcome Prime Minister :notworthy :tosser:
I'm not very in touch with what effects it will have on us 'cos whenever I read stuff about the government it p*sses me off big time, as all it ever goes on about is increasing taxing and not giving us any extra for our layouts.
So how will it affect us?
Were you reading the Sun this morning or what Ripper? :p

And this is just about the currency which we would have to adopt if we joined

Ahh nearly,
Prity much the same but it has less tits and is more reactionary than even the sun at times.
Nice quote from searchlight about the last beef crisis:
The reactionary Daily Mail, the constant champion of middle England and bastion of all that is British, wasbusy launching its own special campaign. Headlines such as “French get a roasting” accompanied the Mail’s appalling “Just Say Non!” campaign, marking yet another chapter in the long history of the British press’s attempts at drumming up nationalism and Europhobia.
The Sun just had another stupid headline stating that we were surendering to europe if be adopted the euro!

This is just scarey, notice the figure's come from the trreasury select commitie
Countries in the Eurozone face a huge problem with their pensions. They have rapidly ageing populations and the Governments in the Eurozone have huge unfunded pension liabilities. Britain, on the other hand, is better off because our pension savings are more than France, Germany, Italy and Spain put together.
In order to pay for these pension debts, Eurozone governments have a choice: they can either cut spending or raise taxes. For example, Italy could half their public spending or increase income taxes by 28 percent. If we were locked into an economic union, we would be forced to pay for this pension crisis.
Currently, our national debt is equivalent to £5000 per person. If you include the burden of our own pension debts, this figure rises to £9000. However, if you add our share of the total unfounded pension liabilities in the EU, our national debt would equate to £30000 for every person in the UK (source: House of Commons Treasury Select Committee).
Despite the pressing nature of this “pensions time-bomb” and despite persistent promises to reform, there have been no serious moves in the Eurozone towards pension reform. They are running out of time.
If we joined the Eurozone, we would pay for these bankrupt pension systems in several ways. We would either be forced to pay directly to prop up failing economies or pay indirectly via a higher interest rate. Joining the euro is like opening a joint bank account with a bankrupt person. Britain has had the foresight to save for our future. Let us not put this at risk by joining a bankrupt system
Either way the state pention in any euro state (incuding us) is going to be worth p!ss all by the time we retire coz were all living too long and not having enough children.
So were fecked either way!
Were just a little more addvance on starving poor pentioners to death than the rest of europe... :p

No we've just reduced the amount we pay out in pentions by linking it to infation instead of average earnings thus its worth less and less over time. Thus costs less. Most other euro contires aint done this. Hence problems paying for it all.
Dam i cant spell  :p

By we you mean labour, which I aint. the very same people who want to join this shower. the main point was that we do have more stashed away than france germany and spain. what will happen is that a eurozone will want harmonisation accross the state, to do that they will have to put up taxes etc. on top of the tax hike we'll get anyway when they harmonise income tax. basicaly we would end up paying more tax so pedro can sit in his garden sucking grapes. also remember the ever increasing number of poor/corrupt nations that are joining, just a few more for us to subsidise. soon we'll be on 80% income tax which will be siphoned off to europe to pay for everyone elses lazyness and corruption.

No I ment we as in "we British". As in "we get taxed less so poor pentioner have less to spend on food... etc. " The only ral way to sort out the pentions problem cuased by us living too long is to work longer.. i.e. passed 65. Ewmwmbwe the at the time the pention age was set at 65 the average life expectency was 66!
Hence as we live longer there is less oney to sare round.
Unfortunatly no political party seems to have run with this one yet s its the only idea i can think of that'll work

LOL, could you imagine drowning in someone else's snot. LOL
Superb. :D
Personally I could not give a toss whether the UK joins in or not. As long as they stick to their decision. What does bother me is that if the Euro zone survives the growing pains the UK then wants to join.
Dont think it right that the UK/Denmark/Sweden should reap any benefits if it did not want to work for it. But this is just my opinion.
Besides this I do think that more large multinational companies would be more willing to continue to invest in the UK if there was a common currency. I know the company I work for lost millions when the UK did not join the euro. It was one of the main reasons they decided to build their new plant in France rather than the UK.
excuse me for being completely out of touch with all this, but what excactly are w*nker's(tony) poliical reasons for joining the euro
