That was a bit stupid of the safety car just to pull out like that on the corner from the pits. Surely he knows the racing line of the cars and should have stuck closer to the barrier until he was more in view.

btw what race series is this and whens the next race? - Looks good:D

The SC should have been out of the pits earlier, but the BMW was going far too fast. Double waved yellows and the SC board mean - Safety Car on-track, slow down and prepare to stop.

But I do love Pau, there have been some ridiculous accidents there  The track quite often gets completely blocked - like a scene from Chips!

Oh dear. Safety car just pulled straight out. Also seemed that the BMW didnt catch on to what was happening until it was too late. Looks like there was a small gap to get through but he didnt react in time. Bloody amateurs :D

Why did a women get out of the car without a safety helmet?

Why did a women get out of the car without a safety helmet?Obviously because a helmet would have ruined her hair

As for the accident, it's a bit of a 50/50. First off, the leader shouldn't have been going so damned fast in the first place - yes, he's in the lead, but double-waved yellows and SC boards preclude anybody from overtaking, surely?. Secondly, the safety car shouldn't have been released so late - a few seconds earlier and it would have been further down the track, giving the racing car an extra moment to react  . Main thing is that nobody was hurt though as it could have been quite nasty :o

180kph under the yellow flags?!?

Both stupid IMO....Saftey car was deployed far too late and driver was going far too fast...

I'm not sure how the rules work in the WTCC but in BTCC they used to race back to the line when the safety car was sent out. They've changed that now so that racing stops the moment the drivers see the SC boards.

If its still the race back to the line for the SC then it was the SC's fault.

Glad everyone is alright though.

Saw this on tv and dont remember seeing a safety car sign as they crossed the start/finish line

They were pretty much under full course yellows due to where all the retired or retiring cars were apart from the last couple of corners round to about corner 3

yeah they need slow down as soon as they see the double yellow and the SC boards. the problem is, the rules state they need to show a reduction in speed but doesn't say by how much, if they can normally come round that corner at 190kmh then coming round it at 180kmh is a reduction and therefore ok, for example.

was a bit daft though, could the safety car not see that the cars were coming up quick behind them, he just kept pulling over to the left  could of kept to the right, the cars could of gone by on his N/S and there wouldn't of been the accident, granted there might of had to be some words about passing the SC but special conditions and all that, at least it wouldn't of stopped the race

Safety Car  looked like TG's Reasonably priced car :wack: Shouldnt they be using 911's or AMG's as safety cars  at least something that can go a reasonable speed to keep some heat in the tyres :annoyed:

Looked like he was just pulling out at 5mph

some mental action though all in the first lap :D

No its a chevy cruise. Like F1 the safety car is an advertising platform. And the watching it live its no way the drivers fault, they throw the safety car board while hes on the front straight.

Scary to think they let little old ladies and fat blokes drive safety cars in FIA sanctioned World level events.

I have to start making time for the WTCC again, looks fantastic!

As for the tool in the safety car - forgetting everything else; if he/she had been looking in the side or rear view mirror they would not have pulled straight out into the racing line at 20 / 30kph

couldnt see any double waved yellows or safety car signs. If you look theres only one yellow and the marshal post only puts out the safety car board after the accident. Definately not the drivers fault, was the safety car drivers fault, must have been the women thinking it was her own car and trying to drive home, or to the shops.

crafty, didnt see the white board on the start finish and where he crashes the guy pulls it away then puts it back but i didnt see him pull it away. Had to watch it a few times to get that. Now i feel like an idiot.

The ok to leave the pits hadny been given. Even if it had he should have stayed to the inside of the yellow line
