The new google phone ?

If so the operating system is top notch don't know about the phone though :( think its like a G1 but missing the keyboard.

I had a decent play with one in the Vodafone shop last weekend. It's not bad, although the OS is a bit sluggish at times, and I couldn't get on with the new on-screen text entry system. It's poorer than the iPhone's (and that's saying something) - it seems to suffer for the absence of multitouch. I'm sure you'd get used to it, though! The camera seemed OK. The lack of multitouch on the browser was really irritating, and made it feel really clunky and unintuitive. :)

My honest opinion is that Android needs another 6-12 months to mature as an operating system; at the moment, it doesn't quite compete with Apple's mobile OS X. In that time, there will be lots of new, better phones released using it. Amongst others, Samsung and Motorola have Android phones in the pipeline. There will also be lots more apps, as the demand increases.

and yes it is the new google phone. it looks as if it works very well with google, and very wel with google maps, and the live veiw as it has a built in compass.

ok need a phone and the HTC is still top for me, anything i shoulld look out for or what phones should i be looking at.

the phone needs to be good on the web
touch screen ( none of this qwerty stuff)
GPS would like this to be i live type GPS, not that wild on the Iphone version of GPS.
and have some cool features.

not the blackberry storm as the other half has one of these already and i want a new toy LOL

Guy at work has a Magic and it's the first phone he's actually wanted to keep. He normally gets a phone and changes it. Had a quick play on it and I thought it was pretty good, but as TomM says the OS needs to mature.

it came today LOL that was faster than i thought. I was still looking in my email for shipping confirmation and the wife called me to tell me it had come LOL, had a quick play with it and its well cool :D

good luck with it, i just got mine from the vodafone store today. seems pretty cool, the ak47 is the best app ever, i actually laughed when i played the first time. Youtube seems ok but it looks like it compresses the video files but the advantage is it downloaded faster than i could play it which was cool. Only just getting to grips with it but dunno how long itl be before i give in and look at the instructions.

I have a HTC Hero (oooh yeah! :cool:)

Really like it, although the battery dies very quickly... maybe cause im constantly playing with it?

Recommend some apps and games.................

1.The schwartz unsheathed ... turn your phone into a lightsaber....almost :D
2.compass.... self explanitory!
3.Draw! ....... fun to write some shite and email it to people
4.MagicMarker..... as above
5.TasKiller.... similar to task manager, close what you arent using

Downloaded a bunch of shite so far as you can see, hence asking for recommendations :wack:

Absolutely love my HTC Magic.

It's not as good as an iPhone... but very close, and it's £300 cheaper over the length of the contract (taking into account £90 from quidco).

no, no android phone does now, the hero is called g2 on tmobile ;)

im realy considering getting one now as it looks cool, also version 1.5 rom should be out soon speeding up the phone loads.

if you are in to the whole downloading thing you can get it free :thumbs:not put it on yet but i will be doing

has any one got the voice search and also the goolge maps with voice search, its on a whole new level of cool :eek:

If you think android is better than winmo, you've got to be on drugs.
I get android core errors 10+ times a day, forcing various apps to close, at a minimum and my phone to reboot quite frequently. In fact, I have to reboot the phone, at least once a day, just to keep it running somewhere approaching smoothly.
Its not hacked, or cracked and I only have the original appset on it.
Its just ****.
Plus...why the **** do I need a touch keyboard on a G1? Cocks.

I got a Touch Pro2 yesterday.

TBH I thought it was going to be worse than the Touch Pro but it has it beaten in every area apart from size. It's significantly bigger to house the iPhone suized screen. Battery life has been better than the touch pro so far and it's much smoother.

oh oh oh, what rom do you have? ie Standard HTC/ Vodaphone/O2 etc

i've had mine for over a month and bloody love it, i had a TyTnII before and i see the TP2 as a true upgrade ot that than the TP before it but thats me

got to say i have the magic thus this thread, I have had the force close only a handful or times. and in all honestly I feel Tu force close is a fantastic feature as it stops your phone locking up. as for powering off the phone, due to slow running or program errors (force close) ,I can only remember the odd occasion when this has happend . infact in the 3 mouth I have had the phone I think I have only turned it off 5-10 times. a friend of mine has the same phone and has had the same experience as me . Sounds as if your phone is foocked if you are having as many problems as you say: -)

i have never had mine turn off or lock up or such on me. My works like a champ. battery life could be better though but i do surf the net quite on it.

I have downloaded the sat nav yet I have not installed it on the phone as of yet. you first need to download a file manager (astroid) which will help you explore the data on your phone (just like you do when you hook the phone up to the PC ).this I hope will then let me run the installation files. i should note if its any good I will buy it, just don't want to dish out £25.00 to find out its crap :-)
