Hello,
I want to fit a aftermarket steering wheel to my S14a. I have bought a boss but need a little guidance. What do I do with this part with the yellow sticker on? It contains a wire ribbon for the horn.

This is the boss...

The boss wont fit over it and needs to be on a further inch to catch the splines. If I do remove it how do I then disconnect the ribbon and wire my horn back up?
Any help with this will be greatly appreciated

Jusr remembered that i saved it.
I did it the same as the link that driftnut has posted. Remove the yellow stickered piece and make a small brass "finger" which makes a contact with the ring on the bottom of the boss. It works brilliantly. I even managed to drill for the indicator cancelling and that worked too.:D

I have the same boss etc but i removed the yellow thing cut all the plastic away then fitted the boss then cut the ribbon off. Then soldered a 2.4 ohm fuse into the airbag wires (black and white ) then just rewired the horn up to my new wheel. Think i was a little brutal the way i did mine as i just went for it and didn't bother realy checking how to do it properly  but it does cancel the lights also  and works perfectly :D

Hello bud
Thanks for the reply, I sorted it in the end. Binned the whole lot. Did the resistor trick and used a contact plate and thin sprung metal for the horn.
Works a treat :)
ps your car is looking gorgeous :smitten:

Nice one mate glad its all sorted, those boss's are a real bargain indeed and work really well
thanks for the comment on my car really pleased with how its going  :D
Which wire does the horn?
A blue red and yellow wire go into a block on the ribbon then on the second block its a single yellow wire out if that makes sense  3 into 1

So which wire do i have to earth to make the horn work?

All three need to be earthed to work sort of LOL
If you have the ribbon still on connect the the yellow wire to one side of the horn pushbutton (blue wire on mine) then connect the otherside (red wire on mine) to an earth point
Or if like me you cut the ribbon off what i done was solder the red, blue and yellow wire all to a single wire and run that to one side on my horn pushbutton (blue wire on mine) then earthed the other wire on my horn pushbutton (red wire on mine).
Then when you push the button it completes the circuit and earths all three wires making the horn work
