I was just ar5ing around on the guitar and wondered if anyone else on here used to play/try to play in a rock band and still play the same old tunes on their guitars? I keep finding myself trying to play old G n'R, Sepultura and AC/DC tunes....sad...i know.....

Sounds like me to a tee! I'm into dance and hip/hop music nowadays but in reality metal or similar is the only stuff thats fun to play on guitar IMO. So I'm stuck just playing the same old tunes!

Dunc.

Must admit, I tend to find myself playing Thin Lizzy, Sabbath, Hendrix, Van Halen etc far too much!

That's when I've not got my Burt Wheedon head on anyway. (Fmin4sus6+13 anyone?:( )

It's a only copy tho cos I can't justify spending £2k on a guitar!!

I can play bits of songs:

Nothing else matters - Metallica
Outside - Staind
Put your lights on - Santana (the background bit - not the santana bits, d'oh)
Sweet child o' mine - G'n'R (not as well as Slash though - obviously)
Don't cry - G'n'R

You're as well just knowing the bits you like and making up the rest!!

I've been playing for over 20 years now and learned by copying records. I was brought up on a diet of Van Halen, Thin Lizzy, AC/DC, Kiss, Motley Crue, Ratt, Racer X, Metallica..........you get the picture:rolleyes: I still pick up my guitars occasionally but have become very rusty. One of my coolest achievements was working out the whole of the "Yankee Rose" tune, including the intro riff, by ear, before the sheet music came out. On reading the sheet music my version was spot on plus a few bits I did that made it sound dead right. I keep meaning to get myself a new 30w combo and start playing a bit more. I reckon the little Marshall looks good, anyone got any recommendations?

My mate has had 2 of the Marshalls, the overdrive keeps breaking on them. The Rolan Cube 30 is pretty cool

If people are gonna post up some soundbites then I wanna hear that one!!!!!

I played in the obligatory pub pock band for about 5 years in the early 90s but I had a run in with a drunk driver 4 years ago that FUBARed my strumming arm. Just starting to pick it up again, damn I am rusty.

Marty, great collection there mate
