View Full Version : Where to get MOT in Cambridge?
In the past years I had the MOT done at Elite in Essex but not able to go there after work etc this week and will be away all weekend! So need the MOT done before Sunday (expires then).
Who do you all use locally and would recommend?:sxoc:
Also whats the deal with not having an MOT on the car and having it just parked on the driveway? Am I ok to leave it sitting on the drive without an MOT for a week or so till I sort it next weekend? I'll only drive it to the MOT station for a booked test.
Insurance has been re-newed last week and Tax tonight (before current MOT runs out)

I use Autoquick at Shelford, mainly coz I know Paul who runs it :D
The garage at Bourn drift isnt bad either but cant remember their name :)

OK cool cheers mate! I might give them a call (Autoquick) - see what they say etc if they can fit me in.
Barr-Tech is the way forward. On the science park. They'll the only guys I'd trust to do work on the car should it need anything and with the new rules on the MOT you pretty much have to get it done at the garage you first take it to otherwise get charged twice (unless you can take it away and return within a day or so).

Well Barr Tech not got space until 11th of May and Autoquick nothing until next week Tuesday!

If I can get it sorted today or tomorrow then I'll leave it till I get back from now till I go off until holiday and then sort it when I get back. Would be nice to sort it so I can use it at the weekend. After that then no point as it'll sit there for a month not used! So might be best to save on a months tax/mot:wack:
However, if anyone knows somewhere I can take it let me know! I work during the day as well. Plus might have to get the garage to put the Cat on for me as I doubt I'll have time after work today or tomorrow.

Went for Saturday - looks like I better got get that blown numberplate bulb and new wipers then:thumbs:
Plus the guy I spoke to said that once it a straight swap with the CAT then they won't charge!:nod:

It's a bit late but I use a garage in Saffron Walden - they were only 50 yards up the road from the shop, so it was convenient to use them :nod:

Normally with the MOT they tester has to take it out for a drive in order to test the brakes as they cannot do it with the machine. Is this becuase I have an aftermarket Diff? If so why?
Just an update to round this thread up! The car went through the MOT fine on Saturday fitted the CAT as well. The car was soooo quite with that on as well and the Apex Sensiable system:rolleyes:!
The garage was very good and friendly! Will use them again for sure!

Saying that though my rear brakes are now making a funny sound and the exhaust is knocking on the prop in 50%+ braking force!?!
