View Full Version : Am I being ripped off?
Want to get this exhaust thingy that Bren posted about on the S14 section and asked my insurance company for a quote if I made the mod. £52 (for between now and September 21st).
Seems a bit steep to me but tbh I've never modded a car before. Won't make any difference (still gonna have the zorst) but just wanted to see what you lot think.
Seems a lot. Are your insurers 'mod friendly'?

LOL. How droll....
Your insurance will usually go up by 10% but that may cover you having a filter etc also.
When I bought my missus a ka she wanted to have colour coed bumpers, a boot spolier and a set of alloys.
They charged me an extra 10% but they said I could also fit a body kit at no extra cost to the insurance as it was covered under that 10%.
Cost me an extra £80 from flux for the zorst.

Doesn't seem like such a bad price then. Don't think my insurers are overly mod friendly cos I had to talk them out of wanting a letter from Nissan to say that they approved of the non standard exhaust.
Ant: Nice to see all that taxpayers money spent on your education hasn't been completely wasted then. You crack me up  ;) :D
they generally just charge a nominal fee for the admin charge. £50 sounds about normal. You probably find if you had told them you'd lowered it and fitted an induction kit too it would still have been £50.
I just payed £45 extra on mine for 40mm lowered, skyline alloys and whiteline ARB
JB in loud exhaust shocker  :D
Greenlight charge me 10% of the value for mods (it's like-for-like cover) with a minimum £25 charge :)
I tend to save up mods and put them all on at once to try and save a little money lol
