A good question posted on the five-o.com web site ?????

As the new Birmingham Nothern Relief Road will be a privately owned motorway, will it have speed limits - as I thought speed limits on private roads are not enforcable?

That would be worth paying the £3 toll for ... cheaper than any TSC :D

Anyone who seriosly thinks the BNRR won't be just as congested as the M6 is leading a very sheltered life.

Yes it will be covered by speed limits, just like the Autoroutes in France (which are all privately owned).

Plod pass up a chance to punish the motorist, get real

I have often wondered:

If I was very very rich...
And I decided to buy some land between London and Birmingham (for example) and build my own road.
Now, I do not allow police on it without a warrant and I supply a gratis breakdown/rescue/ambulance service and free medical care. Use of the road is free (I'm very, very rich, remember?)

BUT:

All users have to sign a yearly contract, stating that they will not sue me for anything AND that they will drive at least 85mph in clear conditions with no top speed.

Would the government try to close me down.
I reckon so, don't you?

I doubt it, but you'd have to get your own liability insurance.
Then teh tax office would tax your pen1s off at the very least...

Me mum won't let me mod it yet, she says I've got to change my own nappies first.

Must go now, time for light out (sigh).
