Try one of the online brokers (AA, or Tesco's) and see if you can get their computer to crash with the strain.

Serious though, likely to be £2k+ comprehensive :(

Doyle,

I am an insurance broker and i would seriously suggest getting some thing else for at least a year. get some no claims bonus behind you and have a full licence for at least a year

Ask Gee, I think I'm right in saying that he had an s13 for his first car?

Yeah matey, prob's lookin' at a two thousand for a good quote :( . Join the SXOC officially and you'll get £200 off that tho' ;).

On the plus side tho', with Kevs help you could get a decent S13 for a Grand or so which makes your overall spending about £3000 (if you get one that's taxed and MOT'd).
Compare that to buying a decently quick fwd car (SCRABBLE!) of the same age (205Gti, AXgt, Golf Gti, Cav SRi) and insuring it and you're talking about £1600-£2000. However, you're unlikely to get the support and advice of the 2***** club. You'll prob's be able to get parts cheaper through the club and service the 2***** yourself.
The pitfalls I s'pose are fuel costs and that bloody modding bug
 :D .

So a grand between an H plate Cavalier Sri or a 200sx, seems like a lot but I know which one I'd choose.

I wouldn't bother mate!
It was £1300 TPF&T at 19 years old and 1 years NCB for me :(.

You're better off getting a shed for your first car anyway :).

Hmm even tesco want £1500 TPFT from me @ 21 with 0yrs NCD and a licence for over 3yrs, that sucks :(

I'm sure it used to be cheaper than that and about ~1300 when i played with it last.

Yep, totally agree. I used to work at CIA insurance, and we'd simply turn people away with silly quotes like that.

Go get a suzuki swift or something slower (like a pug 106) or something for a bit of 'handling fun' instead of raw power fun.

Then when your 21, got get an SX and pay £900-£1200 insurance.
