Hmm looks pretty + theres lots of cars.
All very well but are they going to make it fun? The AI on GT3 is appaling and the tyre wear is shit: Super soft tyres last 1 lap, Super Hard tyres last 10 laps
WTF is the point in 60 lap races on a game anyway?
It just turns into Pokemon (but with cars) after a while. You do the race to win the car, not because it's challenging or enjoyable but so you can add another car to your collection - you gotta collect them all!
I was a bit dissapointed when GT3 came out, hope it's not the same with the next one. As for Christmas 2003 release? Not a chance. I reckon they'd be lucky to release it a year after that :p :(
I can always get the mediums to last 10 lap easily?!?!

Maybe you should stop drifting;) :D

Slander! I've never been disappointed with any of the original GT releases (not including spin-offs).
GT1,2,3 were all ace IMO.

Don't get me wrong, it's a brilliant game but theres a few little things that should have been better!
The game play of the first one was brilliant, the number / type of cars in the second one was great, and the Graphics and handling on the 3rd are amazing... just a shame it hasn't got all of these point combined, which i'll be hoping for in 4.

Wow!!! Tsukuba will be great to replicate all those mental Best Motoring races :D
I hope they put in more tuner's cars. They were my favourites from the first two games, and the Mine's N1 was my favourite from GT3.
Are those ingame shots of the rally courses?

Fair enough mate, I thought the 2nd had too many types of car! I didn't understand the point on having 20 different types of supra that were all very similar, it just meant there was about 10-15 of them you wouldn't use! I though that the 3rd one got it right in all areas, can't wait for 4:)
Just my opinion.

I thought 2 was great, I bought a PSone specifically for the game, and loved it. I felt let down by GT3, it was basically GT2 with better graphics, but less cars, less tracks, and took away the ability to race prepare road cars. Plus the stupid tyres
I was so unimpressed with 3 I swapped my PS2 +GT3 for a set of lowering springs for my real life car :D
I think they were all cracking games!! never played concept though?
I liked all the GT series but I think they should ditch the rally section of the game and stick to road cars and circuits. There are better rally games out there but GT is the daddy of road racers, no questions.
I agree with the tyre wear issue, they do wear out rather quickly considering most Le Mans and GT series racers don't need to pit every 12-15 laps for new rubber do they? Around 30-40 laps would be slightly more realistic for the endurance races with mandatory "service" stops to spice up the races without the drop off in tyre grip.
I have played all 4 games and have completed all of them... well almost;)
Loved them all.
GT1 - the first and a very good introduction
GT2 - better and a bigger selection of cars and options
GT3 - handling... love it.
Me and alot of mates play GT3 for the realistic handling.
Max Mod the Supra, put Traction control off, medium tyres and adjust a few options within the settings and drift away.
best course for drifitng is Midfield II.. excellent..
CANNOT WAIT FOR GT4!:D :D :D
There's several things that I feel they could have done better. One thing they would probably struggle with is realism. After all, we're talking about programming for a console with flashy graphics, not a powerful CPU with added-on graphics chipsets. It's fun, and I played GT3 a lot when I got it (but not the endurance races, I don't have 3 years free time to play a game Sony thanks) but it's replay value is almost nothing to me now I have a garage full of cars and they all handle similar.

In the latest issue of Official PS2 mag they reckoned a mid 2004 release :( .
The article discussed the possibility of realistic collision detection and damage to vehicles in GT4 (which the developers are still deciding wether to include or not) and if it would spoil the game. Initially I was all for realistic damage but, if it means that clipping a corner at 90mph causes a tyre to blow sending you into the barriers ending your race, I'm not so sure....
What are your opinions folks?

Thats a bit harsh :(
As for realism, I say make it as real as possible. Watch me throw the controller in anger when a computer controlled car rams me out of the way causing damage
As long as the computer cars take damage as well it would be  IMO.
GT3 is easily the best, its the only one you can properly drift in:D
As for best drift car/track, you can't beat an AE86 or 1800cc S13 K's on the complex string:p :D with NO driver aids too!

Nah, FC RX-7 tuned to about 350bhp and Simulation tyres on Apricot hill :D :D :D
Try drifting round the first 2 corners as 1, then link the next 3 or 4 without going straight round any of them :) :D
The complex string is ace, shame you can't do races on it though :(
