this has to be one of the funniest things I have ever seen.... god bless this poor kid.

picture the scene, you are an avid starwars fan, you want to see how good your light sabre skills are, but you can't show them to anyone (because you are a jedi, fool :)). How best to do this, than tape yourself on the school camera, then proceed to watch later... the only downfall to this plan is that you must remove the tape afterwards, or it goes on the net.

of course it wasn't long before someone edited it :)

Wow, talk about energy! The kid must have had one bag too many of MARS bars. ;)

I wonder how the person who edited this, did the light sabre effect. I mean, which program did he use and are you able to use some kind of trace function in it, or do you have to just manually track the stick in each frame to set the shape and angle of the light thingy... Does ne1 know?

Yup, that sure was interesting. I just might have to try that out during weekend.. :) But it was actually as I suggested, you have to do it frame by frame. So it's kinda easy to understand why the guy in the tutorial did it in 15fps... It's 37.5% less work..

But anyways, it's always interesting to try out all those special effects. I've been doing some green screening, animating and stop-motion animating and it's always been really interesting to see what can be done with just a computer and DV equipment.

Currently we are actually in the "idea-phase" of making a 70's (ish) cop movie with a friend that's quite a guru with all the DV stuff (he even did a demonstration with some rendered 3D and dolby digital sound. All with a 1Ghz Pentium. It was cool.) It just might happen that we need to add a lightsaber-scene to the movie now. ;)
