View Full Version : copied cds on a DVD player?
can it be done? at the moment I'm watching them on my PC with an Xvid codec but want to watch it on the tv, so are there any DVD players available that will be able to play them?

don't think any DVD's play Divx, you need to re-encode as VCD or SVCD, but again not all players do those.
Mine only does VCD, which is a shame cos SVCD is far better quality as it's MPEG2 same as DVD, whereas VCD is MPEG1.
try http://www.digital-digest.com/ for info on re-encoding.

Or get an Xbox, mine does it.. though obviously it's chipped :)
I can now watch all my downloaded porn... err.... I mean movies *ahem*
my chipped ps2 plays anything, but then my cheap and nasty pacific dvd player that i bought from ASDA also plays all copies and originals (other than non region 2 or 0)
it only cost me £60 so was well chuffed when it played mpeg, vcd, svcd and other copies!!:D
