How fecking fast are these things. As you know god invented the rain to slow the 200 down, so cruising at around 80mph to work along the A3 this am to Guildford. Suddenly car allover my arse like Dale Whinton on heat. I think fec this and put the pedal on the carpet. i couldn,t shake the feccer. all the way to 130mph and still all over me before i slow for Junction down by M25. He then cuts in innermost lane and flys past everything, and back into outside lane past everybody.

What the fecks going on. It looked lowered but moved to quick to check it out fully.

How much BHP has the Lexus IS200 got cos I didnt think they were that quick or powerful?????????:( :(

Doubt if a standard one could out run a SX. It could have been a Atezza (import). Or supercharged (£3k) bolt on.;)

Left one for dead a couple of months ago on the Autobahn. Mind you it looked like he was 4 up with his "homies" in the car. But it really was no contest.

No wonder, they are only 153 bhp with Parkers notoriously accurate 0-60 time quoted as 9.5 seconds.

Import Altezza's with a less refined but rev happy, 4 cylinder 3-SGE engine, run either 180 or 200 hp I believe. There might be a further souped up TTE version as well I can't remember off the top of my head.

I think you can get supercharger conversions for these off the shelf. Also a 3-SGTE (MR2 turbo engine) would be a pretty easy swap.

This is what I found on a dutch site

http://www.autoweek.nl/carbasedata.php?cache=no&vpos=3&add=1&id=24661&cache=no

114 kW (155 pk)/6200tpm
195 Nm/4400tpm

I only saw bonnet from rear mirror and front wheel when he wheeved through to inside lane. so possible it was the bigger brother. But still cant understand why he was hanging on my bumper from 80 to130. If the standard 0-60 is 9.5 then there is no way this was a standard car, or it could have been the 300. I 'll keep an eye out for the feecca on my way to work and let you know. cheers guys:)

The is200's are pretty slow.

Maybe it had a supercharger or turbo kit.

Or its a jap import.

The 300 isnt that fast either....
Unless its a TTE version.

My other/Mrs' car is an IS200 Sport.
2ltr 6cyl 153BHP.
Not very fast in low gears but they pull very well in 4th 5th & 6th. So high speeds are better than quick starts.
If you were struggling to shake it off and it was badged an IS200, then it was most probably a supercharged conversion which will give it just over 200bhp. Otherwise it might have been the IS300, with 208bhp.

IIRC they only sell the 3 litre version here as an estate. However Altezzas from Japan can make ludicrous power from the 2 litre four cylinder engines they have. There's a great vid of a guy powersliding one somewhere.

The IS300 is sold as saloon and estate now. And the Soarer is a completely different shape; its a much curvier and longer car.

Sounds like it was a 300 with a hero driver. It's not too difficult to go faster than a faster car in the wet (if you see what I mean). You just have to leave your sense of imagination at home and have no dependants.

Def sure it was not a soarer. As i said in earlier post though did not get chance to see rear badge as I was in outside lane when he cut through innermost lane. Feel better knowing that they do pul well through 4,5 & 6th gear, but the way he shot past I would not be suprised if there was a suprcharger under the bonnet.

Cheers for the info guys I feel a little better now. All last night spent looking at the price of new turbos to make sure the rematch only ends up one way. But hey if its dry down here then i think it may be a match on level pegging:D :D

I had a IS200 for 2 years and it wouldn't have been much trouble to leave behind at those speeds. So must have been an IS300.
Had a few GS300's from time to time with the same 3litre engine and they pulled very well indeed so could well have been one of them.

The 2L six is a nice revvy engine though, pity its a bit torqueless low down.

Had a GS300 on extended test drive a couple of years ago. My goodness that thing bounced. If you'd driven over a 10 pence piece you'd have been able to tell if it was heads or tails the ride was so hard.

Was that the Sport version with 18's?, cos yes they are bloody hard. :eek:The normal one is very comfortable though.

The 400 is funny though. You can press the accelerator and watch the fuel needle go down!:D :D

IS200, IS300, they are both amazingly slow. So much so that ive even beaten an IS200 in my AE86! I believe the IS300 is the bigger engined version but only available in Auto transmission, in the UK atleast. Still slow.

However.. A Toyota Altezza RS200 (Japanese Spec) has a Beams 3SGE engine which produces 200hp (NA 4 Banger), and yes, they are a very capable car. Might of been one of these but they are very rare over here..

I think it might be time to get on the rolling road. Thing is I had no problem dealing with a 325 the other day. Maybe it was me driving a bit girly in the wet. Bring on the sunshine.:D :D :D
