Ok guys, not exactly an event or meet, but may be a problem up our end!

Had someone buy a car over in Leuchars for £100. He thought after buying it the mot was dodgy. Reason being there was chalk marks on the chassis etc but still rusty holes!!

He phoned us as it had our embossing stamp on the mot cert!!!

We checked back our records and have never seen the car. We checked the serial number and it turns out we did do an mot 13 months ago to an 'E' reg Rover. This was an 'H' reg Escort!

We got the cert of him and looking at it, someone has someo how managed to remove all writing and rewrite the cert with the Escorts details  Luckily not with my signature or the other testers name on it :)

Not a clue how they done it. All you can see is the slight 'imprint' where the original writing was and the cert looks slightly lighter in colour all over. So beware if buying a car to check closely.

Anyway, its all in the hands of the police now. Sorry for the long post. Just pee's me off to think our garage 'may' have gotten blackened over this!!

I don't know Graham. He isn't one of our customers. My boss has the guys name I think. If I can get his name I'll pm you.

At the end of the day, was it worth the persons hassles over a £100 car? It ain't a lot of of money in this day and age.

I'm sure the police have knocked on the sellers door by now.

Our local mot inspector was saying this is his second one he's heard of recently. It may be a new scam going about.
