View Full Version : Surrey Rolling Road day - Sat 30th May 2009 :D
Here we go then folks...
This is the thread for the SRR day.
It's going to be Sat 30th May, starting at 10am. I need a minimum of 20 cars and can run as many as 25. I'll put up a reserve list if we get over 25 because I can GAURANTEE not everyone will turn up on the day :mad: :no: So if you end up on the reserve list you will probably still get a run :D
SRR is easy fo find, just follow the links on their website (http://www.surreyrollingroad.co.uk/), Charlie and the gang are all a great bunch and always look after us well (his staff are both SXOC members ;) )
If you're using Satnav make sure you've got the right postcode, it's got a Zero in it NOT the letter 'O'!!!
Please post if you'd like a run and I'll update the list as we go along, obviously it's first come first served ;)
A run for a member is £30 subsidised by the club, non-members are £40 a run and members will get preference on runs before non-members.
If you want a particular time then please let me know in your post ;) otherwise you'll just end up somewhere on the list :thumbs:

Anyone who wants to come to the Eastern and Oriental afterwards please post on the poll so I can get an idea of numbers. It'll be a riot and I have to be honest and say that this place is my favourite chinese restaurant! :D It's amazing!

I have booked a table for 9 people for the Chinese on Saturday. They want a £5 per person deposit. I will put it down but only if you are 100% sure you will be there. I will be expecting you to pay me if you can't make it. If Anyone messes me about I'll just get out the banning stick! ;)

ive not done any mods since last time but i might wind my boost up. see what happens
can i still put myself down for this? and do i need to pay on the day or before?

I am hopefully getting my new clutch fitted this weekend so will be giving her a good run this week in preparation for the RR. Looking forward to it :)
Is there any chance of getting a run if it's not too late to get on the list it's a P11 so FWD so if I can get on after G then will save on changing road around for RWD sx's?

i don't see there being a problem with that, it would make more sense running the two fwd cars at the beginning / end, but it doesn't really take much time to swap it over.

they should be able to sort something out for you, bearing in mind if your gearbox / diff etc is standard and your wheels are the same size as someone elses on the day they could just mimic the gear ratio of the previous run :)

Just got back from the RR. Thoroughly enjoyed it and was great to see such a wide variety of SXs there :).
Am glad that i managed to run in the end, and to say i am pleased with my result is an understatement.

Good to meet up with some old friends - Algie, Stuee69, Famous monster etc
Some nice cars there - I think I liked the standard-ish looking RB26 S13 most - very tidy.
My car is still performing well - made ~520bhp at 1.4 bar and 450ft.lbs / 552bhp at 1.7bar.
Anyone else up for a track day soon? I know Algie and I are.

You're thinking about it all wrong - its not blowing £2k on an ECU. Its getting a proper engine management system, data logger, boost controller, traction control, launch control, knock control, dash board driver and WBLS controller that is integrated and all works properly - 10 times better than having lots of devices that don't communicate with each other. You won't regret it :)

some nice s bodies there i thought, think everyone`s car`s were running a little less than normal due to the hot weather but cant complain.
mine made 378.9bhp and i think around 330ish ftlb, mine actually made 4 more bhp than last time due to running 1.46 bar of boost instead of 1.40:rolleyes:. my ftlb was down by bout 20 but we think that was just down to the v hot weather.
and gander your car is awsome, sounded mental as you left:notworthy.
my mate with the cossie has fallen in love with your car, and is actually considering buying an s body and sticking an rb in. think the longer you were chatting to him the more ideas you were putting in his head lol.

Some great pics there ragt20 and jeremy 200, my car actually looks quite clean when under cover, lol.
Was good to meet some new guys and girls and had a really good time, after speaking to charlie after the run, he suspected turbo gaskets on the way out and have used the car today and it sounds like they could be gone :wack:. Oh well, nice to have a good diagnostic done, will be sorting them in the next couple of weeks.

Will be at least 6 months to get enough people together for another one, your other option if you don't mind a bit of a drive is the APT day on the 28th June ;)
we generally try to run them twice a year for SRR but past few years we've only really managed 1 a year. so unfortunately it looks like it'll be a while, there are other RR days, but obviously SRR is the best location for yourself :(

The figures I quote are fly figures, I'm pretty sure of you look in the ;print out pack that Charlie gives you theres a wheel figure graph in there too though ;)
Not sure on the track day, Jez and I were talking about a half day at Silverstone but Juz is looking at a half day at Brands in August so either is possible.
I do fancy the GP Track at Silverstone, I can fulful my deludued dreams of F1 greatness :D

James, if you're very very very quick there's an sxoc track day at llandow, to give you a bit of a taster next week, even with the cost of fuel getting there and back it'll probably still work out cheaper for a whole weekend there (camping for 2 nights) then it would at an evening at brands / silverstone :D
there are still places, but it's next saturday though, so hurry!

No mate, any old tires are fine (although it'd help if they're legal!). And track day insurance is optional (I've never bothered with it :no: ).
The only thing they need is a road worthy car and a valid UK drivers licence and that's it, easy peasy :nod::thumbs:
