Have any of you guys used a bleed valve initially and then switched to an adjustable actuator or boost controller?

If so did you notice any differences in the boost pick-up?

Which holds boost better/longer?

Nathan, I know that you use Greddy Profec B Boost Controller. Did you notice any differences between your actuator/bleed valve ?
(either with you previous T25 or current T3)

Ive had my boost controlled on the actuator, and on a bleed valve.

The actuator is more reliable at holding the boost, it hits where you set it to, and holds it all the way through the revs.

The bleed valve "spikes" the boost at first, but then settles down.

Never tried a boost controller though, would imagine that if you can afford it, its the best option by far though.

Stu,

is that ust with your current T3 fitted or did u notice the same with your T25?

I se what you mean about the boost creep though with the bleed valve.

You say it holds boost better, by this do you mean it holds boost for a slightly lengthier period of time?

i've heard bleed valves are a bit unreliable as u can set a certain boost level and it can creep up and down at will from the level you have set. This is obviously pretty dangerous if u have the fcd chip and the bleed valve moves the boost levels into the red...bye bye engine.
i have an nd boost actuator, for a few quid more its peace of mind and can make a bout 21psi, enuf for the moment.

I got an ND adjustable actuator from Nathan_200sx and it's the best money I've ever spent the boost is easily adjusted and holds on all the way up. The big problem is I had to buy a Mongoose, K&N, and stage 1 chip!!.
Nathan my wife blames you for all this tee hee

I got a Ric gillis boost control valve sent in from the states.
www.boostvalve.com (http://www.boostvalve.com)

It is a ball valve arangement not a bleed valve. I find it spikes about 1-2psi then holds 16psi rock solid in all gears

It makes the turbo spool up a lot quicker than a bleed valve, which has got to be good

Steve,

Ive only run a bleed valve with the T3 fitted, so Im not sure of its effect with the T25.

When I said holds boost better what I ment was the boost peaks at say 17psi, but then stays at 17 psi all the way through the revs with the actuator controlling the boost.

The bleed valve however can initally peak at say 19psi, then drop off to 17 psi and through the revs can fluctuate a little, though only by about 1 psi.

Ive got a boost gauge fitted, so running a bleed valve aint really much of a problem as I can tell if something is going wrong, however, if youve got one as well, have a little play and see what you think, after all, its dead cheap http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/smile.gif
