my car smoked on high boost at the rr and uses quite a lot of oil. It's not the newish turbo (I hope) so could be rings or breather? I've done searches but cant make out what to do... can you advise pls? cheers boys...

Get a compression test done wet and dry. I'm getting the same, used over half a litre tonight.
Not 100% its rings but cant seen to find anything else.

Mike how new is the turbo?

Can u fit a one way valve mate?

Or clean out the breathers?

Told u u should have stayed around!

Marti will be headin up ur way in a couple of weeks, he could do a comp test then.

turbo 12 months old, always left to cool, and car has smoked for a while, so prob OK

can you point me to some words on how to clean out breathers/fit one way valve?

next time we meet u can do a comp test!

Ahh cmon Mike u know about one way valves surely, do a wee search of s13 tech and it will say all u ned to know.

Cleaning the breathers is basically a case of taking off the cam covers and the breather hoses (the ones that run across the cam covers) and getting a can of de-greaser and using it to clean out all of the cr@p.

If u wanna check out how bad it is, then take off the breather on the drivers side cam cover breather at the front and have a look down the hose, and at the end of the cam pipe, if u see alot of cr@p then thats possibly ur problem.
