i kmow this looks like an ant to some of the members that live in odd places where spiders bite your arse when on the bog etc, but to us UK folk it's a bit odd.

Last week we had 2 newts and a snake in the garden (little baby snake was really cute), today missus went to dump some stuff in the dustbin and found this...

WTF is it?

They are harmless to humans as they neither sting nor bite.

BOLLOCKS!!!! they are nasty buggers that take pleasure in divebombing people, i was at a festival once and there was loads of them there, everywhere you looked you could see people ducking and running:eek:

They have a nice habit of appearing out of the ground (in May) and flying up your trousers, into your face and hair.

They only live for one day. the lava develop under ground (white grub like thing) and they come out the ground at dusk normally between end of may and end of june. like to buzz round trees and come down chimneys  Are sticky as well like velcro and get firmly attached in hair

I think they come out in May Mark.
You are thinking of the JuneBug. :):D

it was sticky though, missus couldn't get it off her finger,m hence why she took the glove off a-la piccies.

Cockchafes - proper tennis racket and wild thrashing material when they all appear. They are like flying cockroaches ..........
When the inevitable occasion of their plague like appearance happens, try the following:
Gather bunch of mates
Get pissed
Proceed to punch the cockchafes out of the sky - well funny - they get knocked out and everything :D

You what!? How can a snake be cute? If you took all the snakes in the world and stuck them in a pile, they would all start to stick together, Transformer-like, and would eventually build The Devil Himself.

We have the same sort of bugs here :)

Except ours have shiny(oily-ish) backs/wings/thingys and come out in December. We call them christmas beetles (cos that's when they come out)

If you don't want it you can send it to me ;)

*edit* - just re-read your post and I see I'm too late :(
