Ok i'm fine with basic systems with just a processor, cd burner and a graphics card etc but i have 2 questions:

What is a Firewire card for?

If you had a system with a CD burner and a DVD burner would there be any point in having a zip drive?

:D

firewire is kinda like a super fast USB port, used mainly for connecting DV cameras and the like. 400Mbs.

Was there ever any point in having a Zip drive?

Fire wire is sort of like USB, but a shed load faster (400mb/second) and most commonly used in Mac's though PC usage is becoming increasingly common.

Main uses are for Streaming digital videos from digital video cameras for editing, as well as for hard drives and the like.

I would forget about Zip drives to be honest! Too much hassel and you've got a CD burner to move big fiels around!

I had a zip drive ages ago but I have a USB pen drive now, 256MB of storage you can just stick in your pocket.

nah its a different shape.

if you dont use firewire now, forget it, it's already looking old (as USB2 is faster) you dont need it.

'cept firewire is faster than USB2!
Typical max for firewire is over 95% usage. USB2 is more like 75%
