I'm not keen myself, I think it's a bit silly and exaggerated! Doesn't beat Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles, or Inspector Gadget for that matter!

Yes, initial D is an aquired, subtitled, with original japanese language, relatively adult habit. I gave up on cartoons in my early teens, yet anime can still manage to hold my attention.

Probably because Anime are nothing like the cartoon shite we get on TV over here. Most of them are aimed at adults / specific markets. You try showing Urotsuki to your 4 year old daughter ;)

cough, Initial D was the thing that sent me down the 'must purchase a jap car' route. Kenji in his rps13, fantasstic entertainment.

The best thing about Initial D is the ridiculous dialogue :)

I love the way the spectators explain the workings of cars to each other as the race goes on, and when you get to hear what the drivers are thinking ... lol

"What!?!?! There is no way he should be able to sustain that kind of pwer around a 180 degree right hand hairpin!"

love it :thumb: :D:D

Yes, the spectator dialogue is such cheese.

Itsuki is the most annoying **** ever. ever. ever!

The driving requires that you suspend your disbelief for long periods of time.

and the music is ... some cambridge friends of mine bought all the soundtracks! they call it initial cheese. Eurobeat! :D

'No one sleep in tokyo! All night crossing the line!'

Some of the Move songs are really quite good though. I always have a soft spot for 'rage my dream'.

Still, as far as entertainment goes, for anyone into or interested in cars and touge racing, it is some very engaging stuff. I really wish I knew of some nice Touge courses in the uk.

That track is dangerous!!!

Turns me into a steering wheel wielding maniac whilst driving  :D

I've got the soundtrack in my car, guaranteed to make you drive like a loon :D :wack:

dude I *need* that soundtrack !!!

just out of interest, is there any truth to the misfiring high torque system ??? apparently the whole series is inspired by the guy from drift bible??

Of course you do :D

Yes, misfiring systems exist. They apparently they shag normal engine seals very quickly, and make for a really bad idle. Afaik they aren't so much for high torque as for just keeping up the power (turbo spool etc) all the time.

And yes, apparently Keiichi Tsuchiya consulted on the series ;)

Gary

The most dangerous song in the thing is "Night of fire" which me and my mate are convinced causes seisures.
