Hey,i wonder if any of you guys could help me out.I drive a 97 almera GTi,all i have done to it so far is fit a k+n 57i filter,s/s exhaust (cat to backbox) and a set of 17s.Iam looking for a power increase but i dont know the best route to take be it chipped an camed or what.You guys seem to know your stuff so any advise would be greatfully accepted. Thanks for your time.

The almera engine is a SR20de transversly mounted.

It might be possible to fit the engine from a Sunny/Pulsar GTI-R.

You would obviously have to look in to that, but that would give you a significant increase in power (220bhp in a GTI-R)

Else cheaper options are, ditch the cat, get the ecu chipped.

This chap has turbo'ed his Almera but it does not say how (I would think some sort of bolt on kit, not going to give as much bhp as the GTI-R lump)

You need to visit the Almera owners club forum ,
theres lots you can do to yer almera and this place can tell you were to get it for a bit less £££ and what works best.

To be honest turbo tuning is quite different (and much, much cheaper per bhp) to tuning a normally aspirated car.

I used to have a Honda Civic which I stuck various bolt on bits to it (intake, cat back, etc). I'd be quite surprised if all of it made even 10 hp difference... Although it certainly give it a bit more poke at the top end.
