this is just a little rant as I am rather miffed
got home last night and parked my car in front of my house at about 10:30 ish then at about midnight I heard an almighty bang looked out my window and saw a car driving off thought nothing of it as I was in bed. However when I got up this morning I decided to inspect my s13 ans low and behold the barsteward had hit the passenger side front bumper snapped off the headlight washer jet and pushed the bumper over about 1/4 inch how  was I so I took pics before I set off to work this morning and when I get home I will deal with it ie report it to the police and insurance ect.
Rant over sorry guys just needed to get it off my chest :mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:
What a bunch of :censored:
Did you see what car it was, maybe someone dropping a neighbour off.

27-01-2009, 09:32
yep it was I pulled up outside my house a few secs after they had pulled up outside the neighbours and I have seen the car there very often so I know they are friends of the neighbours. so will have words with them when I get home the worst thing is if they driver had just put a note through the door I would have been happy with that just the fact that he just drove off is the bit that annoys the hell out of me.
I know exactly how you feel mate, A woman reversed into my car and drove off a couple off weeks ago.
Turned out to be a neighbours mother, I only knew about it because another neighbour knocked my door and told me about it.
Mine is in the body shop today being sprayed and she's paying:smash:

Total arse,rape their bank mate:nod:
slider91
27-01-2009, 10:10
well I will give them the choice of paying themselfs or I will go through the propper channels and report it and go through the insurance as I have protected no claims however I think the insurance would wright off the car for the damage :(

just found out that it was next dorrs dad that owns the car but they are saying that they didnt hear anything  she said she is going to call her dad and get him to come over so we can check if it was him when I am pretty sure it was.

27-01-2009, 17:51
Cheers jony I have seen the offending car and the neighbour agrees it to be the fault of her dad and I am now just awaiting his details for the insurance looks like it may get writen off though :(
Write off? get some pics up. It can't be that bad. If the guy agrees to pay give him a price and fix it yourself.
:( Sorry to read this mate :(
It should'nt be a write off mate if your claiming off the other party, No need to tell your insurance company.
Mind you that's as long as they play ball
Give radar claims a bell they deal with the other party's insurance on your behalf, But saying that it all depends if they accept liability.
Just tell the guy you will report him to the police if he does not sort it out for you:nod:

He was probably pissed hence why he didn't stay around, ohhhh now you have me mad lol
Pisses me right off they are just big shits that need to be put down

It doesnt matter whos insurance it goes throu if they deem that the work, parts, and hire cars rental adds up to more than the value of the vehicle then they will class it as a wright off.
This does not bother me as it means that I can buy it back cheep and have some money left over for mod\repairs.
Did you get any where with the guy who hit it.

28-01-2009, 12:29
well my neighbour brought the car over yesterday and agreed that it was her dad that hit my car and said that they would get the insurance details for me yesterday but low and behold nothing!!! just been round there and knocked the door and got no answer so I will leave it until later and try again.
Got a quote off the bodyshop by my unit also this morning and they have quoted for paint and labour a price of £499 plus then the price of a new bumper and washer jet at manufacturers list price so I am going to get the price of that from nissan now :wack:
unipsycho
28-01-2009, 20:33
NOOOOOO!!!! I spent frigging ages on that door :wack:
slider91
29-01-2009, 08:56
it's ok tom he didnt touch the door just the near side front bumper and nissan want £1081.15 for the front bumper  it is also a speacial order part that has to be made to order and will take weeks for it to arrive :wack:
But the best bit is that the guy is now trying to deny that it was him that hit the car!!! :(

persist with it folks,

Fek it, 5-0 right now:mad:

29-01-2009, 11:19
well I am going to see him with his car and see what he says then. If he still denies it then it will be time for the police to look into it and take paint samples ect to prove it
Sounds a nightmare mate, hope you get this sorted soon.

29-01-2009, 16:19
Just spoken to my insurance company and they confirmed from the information given about the quotes I have got it would be a total loss (wright off) so I am just needing to sort out with the 3rd party now and get his details to get it all to go through :$
VIDAL BABBOON
29-01-2009, 17:47
Mate i would have had the Police in by now  if he is as clever as he is devious the car he was in would now be repaired and no evidence of the accident would exist on his car.
Hope this is not the case but the longer you leave the call the more chance of it happening !

30-01-2009, 09:24
I have now reported it to the police and just have to go into my local police station to do an incident report for them to chase it up for me however the guy who owns the car is about 67 or so and a bit dippy but I think that my neighbours boyfriend is the one that is advising him to deny it  I am sure it will get resolved though

1. The insurance company is under no obligation to sell the car back to you. Bear this in mind if you REALLY want to keep the car. Some Ins Cos will, some have a bulk deal with salvage yards. If it goes to a salvage yard you will struggle to find out which one and it could be anywhere in Europe.
2. The old guy may be dicking you around or he may have been told by a friend that he should not have admitted liability. The thing is that insurance companies can (not will but can) refuse to pay a claim if you admit liability to the other party. Ideally, what he should do is say "Yes, my car was in collision with yours but I'm not admitting that it was my fault" but I doubt he is getting that sort of advice.
Good luck getting it sorted out.
p.s. Didn't expect to find myself in South Wales this evening...even virtually :wack:

Oh, also, if you originally told him you weren't going to the Police, it might be a good idea to tell him you have now (unless you want to be mean) as otherwise he could get done for failing to report an accident.

Already pointed that out to him, and as there has been much dicking about then i think it's now a case of tough luck as time has run out
And as he did exactly that then the police should have been called days ago

ok well I have been to the police and they advised me that it would take them 6 months before they would be able to look into it for me  however I took a drive arround and found the guys car and have taken down the reg number and will be giving that to my insurance company.
As far as I am aware your insurance company no matter who it is must give you the option to buy back your own vehicle as long as it is not clasified as a cat a or b wright off as it is your property and they are just compensating you for the daamage or loss there of a vehicle that you legally own. Therefor they have to give you the option of a 'buy back' of which they can denote the price and take it out of your settlement figure.
This is what I am intending to do and if they dont offer me a 'buy back' option than as the car isnt going anywhere they will find it a bit troubling trying to get it off me as the registered keeper.
The car is only going to be a cat d at the most due to the time it will take to get the parts from japland.
pics will follow v.shortly.

Why don't you just knock him for a £ton and fix it yourself? Or is it him that wanted to go through the insurance route?
Did you get pics of the other car as evidence?

because a ton wont even get me enough materials to respray a bumper let alone pull the front sraight paul :( I have already reported it to the insurance now and am letting them resolve it.

I have done and they said I would have to discuss it with the assesor when they come to asses it and as long as it's not a cat a or b it should be ok.

a little update on this apparently my car was previously a cat c wright off which is not displayed on the log book but should be date of cat c was 06/03/2004  and because of that my car is only worth get this £500 trade and the insurance can only payout on 65% of it now they are stating my excess is £350 so I am driving around in a car that is not worth anything and paying for the privilege :mad::mad: so I have said to them to find me an s13 that is in as good condition as before the acciden for that sort of money as they would be hard pushed to get one for £1500 let alone £350  I hate insurance scumbags. rant over lol
:( That is harsh! fire some adverts of simular cars their way!

Just had a settlement letter off them and for them to take my car off my hands they want me to pay them £50    I also had a call from their collections company wanting to make arrangements to collect my car lol I told them they could take a long walk off a short pier lol and to think to get another s13 would cost close on a bag of san or more are they having a giraffe or what.

slider91
17-03-2009, 13:40
nope they are saying that the car is only worth £300 and my excess is £350 so the difference is £50 which I have to pay to them to take the car away

Valuing the car yourself is no good, as regardless of what you say you will only get book price unless you go through the grief of getting agreed value on the policy, even then nothing is guaranteed. :(
