Hmmmmm. Just provoked a TVR Tuscan 4.0 into a bit of straight line tomfoolery.

I have to say, I expected a bit more from a car with supposedly 350bhp and weighing in at only 1100kgs.

He was doing the old trick of being in the wrong lane but wanting to use his acceleration/speed to out accelerate everyone else and then pull in. Admitedly he had a passenger and I had the inside line; but he was going for it.

Perhaps they are not so quick after all? I'm not saying that they aren't quick, just that I have heard that they don't push out as much power as TVR claim.

Anyone else had any experiences?

Mate of mine has a Griff 500, that thing shifts let me tell you :)

The great thing about TVRs is the noise they make whilst propelling you into the horizon :)

The noise is great isn't it. There is a Griffith round here that has a "flip" paint job, doesn't really matter how they go, they just look and sound like they will outrun anything else on the road.:D :D

TVR stands for trevor........

Needless to say i'd still love one, must be a sight tho when the slowest Nissan sports( as in Skyline, 300ZX and Pulser) car beats one!

I managed to 'provoke' a tuscan a few months ago. It did pull away a little but not as much as i expected. I have a feeling he left it in 5th though while i had the foot to the floor in 3rd. :D

They are quick, but I@m not convinced that they are as quick as they claim. I've NEVER seen any of them pull anything impressive...

except the Cerbera that trounced everything Clarkson threw at it and was timed at just over 30 secs for a standing mile :D

Some magazine or other dyno tested a bunch of TreVoR's, and they were ALL found to be pushing out significantly less than TVR claimed. They also noted that the versions supplied to magazines etc felt "significantly faster"

I've taken loads on the raods.

Granted, they were all on the back of recovery trucks at the time, though.

There was one at crail recently running 12sec quarters.
It was brand new. Think maybe the speed 6, though I'm no expert on TVRs.
