dc yeeles in cranfield is good, does all our stuff, but he probably doesn't go as far as your place, and he isn't that cheap

Boiler needs checking/servicing. Also need someone to check our heaters as I think some are broked, but is that more of a plumber job??

Grim, I know, I know but no-one will have me :( bloody slave driver as he is.

Are the heaters night storage/electric or do you mean those radiator things connected to the boiler :wack:

Jow

Connected to our walls :p but yes, the ones that get warmed up by the boiler

Grim

in England we call them radiators :)

you dont need an electrician for those.

Shhhh, don't tell Dan that, was hoping to get him to see if the whole 'electric/water' thing works :wack:

Is it gas engineer or a plumber that would look at them though, as IIRC, when people used to come to service my fire/boiler if i had a problem with the radiators pedantic little feckers they would have a look, but if I reported it directly, I can't remember if it was an engineer, a plumber or a general workie that looked at them (can't remember what they are called)

Oh, and as for the electrician thingy, that is totally unrelated, I need someone to have a look at our electrics, and as we are kinda strapped for cash at the moment and which Rhian due at any time really, the cheaper I can get it done the better.

I believe gander is a gas engineer, but think he's in portsmouth. Obviously I can't vouch for him wanting to help though!

I am a gas engineer of sorts, but don't think you would have any 48" pipelines running through your house or that it sits over a gas field so can't help that much really :p

One thought about your radiators, have you got a key that fits in the end of the rad to bled them?

If the rad is cold or lukewarm when your heating is on then there is a good chance there is air in the system. Put your heating (to get the water circulating) and undo the bled screw (at the top end of the rad) to let any air out.

Sorry if I am teaching you how to suck eggs.

:D Funny you should say that................

Just spoke to Dan who told me that he hasn't bled the radiators, though he did try but the key didnt fit. Grrrrrrrrrrr. Will be finding a key tomorrow to fit or a pair of pliers and seeing if that is the problem!

I don't feel silly at all

Word of warning with the pliers ............................ I did it once and when the cool air turned into bloody hot water I struggled to get the pliers in to turn the bleed screw up.
Best to get a proper key, should be pence from any hardware shop.

Grim

is your bottom worm? do you want to borrow uncle Graham's rad key little girl?

Jow
17-12-2008, 12:39
now, is that meant to be worm or like warm??

Two are fixed, did need bleeding, the other the thermostat twisty thingy at the bottom is knackered so need to get a new one.

Now all I need to do is find an electrician. Oh, and find a new boyfriend.

Grim

double motivation for him!

Jow
17-12-2008, 12:49
He does, it's in the bedroom!! The room has two heaters, sorry, radiators but still should get it working really. As you can see, he is bothered about getting it working :wack:
