well its that time of year again, Rally GB is back in wales for the final round of the championship, with Loeb already claiming the championship hopefully it will be an all out battle, bin it or win it fight to the finish :smash:

2nd row seats  best get your camera ready then! :D
I think i'll head out into a stage this year! Had VIP passes last year and only time to go to the service park  (and its crap at Sa1,used to be much more happening at the Velindre site)
Might go to Walters Arena again, cracking place
no mid wales stages??? why??
why do they insist on calling it the rally of great britain, when the cars only visit the crapiest part of mighty empire, motoring wise. i bet they put speed cameras on the special stages.
no mid wales stages??? why??
i have the os maps versions of the mid wales stages if you want them
pm me your email and i'll send them on, same goes for anyone else
stolen from another forum :D

Sebastien Loeb rolled this morning in icy conditions during the recce for Wales Rally GB on the Myherin stage.
Conditions were paricularly bad and Loeb slipped off the road and rolled down a bank in his road car.
a copy of the 2006 safety booklet can be downloaded here, it has maps and photos of points round each stage so you can have a look see if its worth walking further afield from the main spectator points. they have changed the route this year so some stages arn't included oh and they running the stages backwards this year http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?c22ftinjm2d

I hope he's memorised the "Drivers' Excuse Book" as they're not supposed to be going quickly on the recces.
I must admit, I preferred the rallying in the older days when it was the Lombard RAC Rally GB, usually covered from Wales to Derbyshire, through the Lake District and into Scotland, stages began before dawn and stopped around 10 or 11pm and it took the best part of a week to finish. It's still great, though.
what like this one? http://sxoc.co.uk/vbb/showthread.php?t=380698 :D
Anyone have a plan of times for this years stages? especially Walters arena?
Thanks.Paul

ATTENTION FRIDAY PEOPLE!!!!!
they have decided to shorten the friday stages due to the adverse weather over that last few days :ghey: theres a news bulletin here http://www.walesrallygb.com/52_746.php?PHPSESSID=b97e9e57db381ae0b0a9519ca780c 080 that covers the details so be aware you may have to adjust your scheduels
i'll update this if i find out which specific parts they are cutting out start/end of each stage etc
Walters arena not effected yet thanks god!
:( Looks like theres been a bad crash on the road section
http://www.walesrallygb.com/
in the news section!
well had a great weekend at the rally  the stages were very slippy with all the frozen mud it was difficult walking on them in places never mind driving, you could see the tyres not biting into it at all! the rallying was a bit pants at times but camping and beer make for good times :D
the first stage was crychan 1 and normally the corners were on are 5 gear sweepers with alot if camber but this year due to the ice they were doing about 30 mph and it was all a bit disapointing really was just stood about wanting someone to crash! Osberg was noticably fastest on the bit we watched and his impreza sounded ace with no backbox!
as the last few years we drove to the other side of the valley to watch the second run through Halfway 2 but got busted by the marshalls for not having a 'pass'. the road we normally park on was being used as the return road for the competitors this year, as the stages are reversed, so it was marshal tastic and we were escorted down to the main road
so after a bit of a re-group we headed off down to the car park for Walters Arena on the Rheola stage, went to glyn-neath for a few beers while we waited for the carpark to open, found a proper local pub that had a 'christmas do' on full of women, mainly old but something at least, and a karreokee night! got to say that the welsh people are really friendly and everyone was very welcoming even with our dirty boots  and the beer is very cheap...
after a frosty camp and a late start we watched them through Rheola 1 at walters arena, then after cooking some food on the stove on top of the engine, because the gas froze  we treked upto the faster parts above walters for a bit more speedy action and it was quite clear that Loeb was going alot quicker than Latvala, heard on the scanner that Latvala was having difficulty working out whether the shinny residue that covered the road was ice or water from the thaw were as Loeb could see Latvala's wheel tracks through the water and so knew it wasn't ice and he was able to push much harder
got a few pics on a friends camera so will upload them later...
So what happened to everyone elses pics? and did anyone see the atkinson or hirvonen crashes from where they were? atkinsons looked like a mess
