Should be awesome - lets hope it doesn't clash with the weekender (http://www.sxoc.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=376383&highlight=weekender)... it doesnt :)

Basically the format is ...

32 of the worlds best drifters, including D1 drivers (unlike the World Champs), Phil's S15 and the Apex Skyline.

32 of the Worlds best Time Attack cars from Japan, America, Europe etc

Manufacturer Time Attack

1 massive Rock concert, headliners are HUGE but unannounced as yet.

I'll keep the thread updated as soon as news comes through

EA brings Need for Speed to life in next summer's biggest drift and time attack racing event
Las Vegas - November 5, 2008 - Today at the SEMA show in Las Vegas, Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ:ERTS) announced Need for Speed™ Live, a unique festival and competition that celebrates car culture. This first-time event will be open to the public and will be hosted next summer at the world famous Brands Hatch Circuit* located near London, England. The weekend-long experience will be a showcase of entertainment, videogames, music, car shows and displays designed to appeal to fans of racing games, proud owners of hot vehicles, fans of exotic cars and motorsports enthusiasts.

Need for Speed Live will invite some of the world's top drifters and time attack cars from across Europe, North America and Japan to gather in one location to compete in a battle of the continents. Need for Speed Live will also include demonstrations by some of the world's most famous race and exotic cars in a manufacturer time attack exhibition.

"For over 14 years, Need for Speed has been at the forefront of automotive culture and this Live race event brings the spirit of Need for Speed games to life with all of the energy, adrenaline and sexiness that the franchise represents," said Rod Chong, Creative Director for Need for Speed Live." Need for Speed Live will definitely push each driver and their cars to the limit as they contend with dramatic elevation changes and harrowing fourth-gear 100 mph drifts."

this should be a killer event, but i do hope that this time, they make it more of a representative event, and do ruin the purity of a world wide event by filling it with the national series' drivers, no offence but if it had like 16+ EDC drivers thats a bit funny.
got to have the last 3 D1/EDC uk drivers + top 3 from this year, at least 10 D1GP drivers and the various international fillings from a few Formula D drivers and euro/australasian drivers.

And the Time attack event should be rather interesting. although the commercial and organisational aspects will probably reduce it, but i think it'd be sweet to have more than just the 32 time attack cars, and have more club level cars, and some of the more renouned tuner cars not just current time attack cars, amuse supra, mines gtr, etcetc. some of the japanese and american touge cars. spoon civic fd2 etc. a wider range over two days or something would be nice, but i'm guessing thats unlikely. still be an awesome event

Yes, this is interesting....I was always wondering...how some people become loving fans of cars like corsa etc. They 'tune them up' to a stage where wheels, exhaust and bodykits become too heavy to pull for their 1.2 engines.....Again this is only my opinion....
