I am trying to get different views on this...
A job has been created in bagdad.. and I am seriously thinking of going for it... think of the money!!!
What do other peeps think?
Cheers,
Tim
Give a month or two and then hell yeah! Baghdad looks like quite a nice city if you look past the craters.
Once its calmed down a bit, why not if the moneys good
Whats the job? Need any help? Our company might be nosing around in here. Doing CP work at the mo of course only - get some ex regiment bods to look after you. Not cheap at the minute. Thats + costs e.g. equipment...
The Job will start in November.. so there is plenty of time.
Yeah, whats the job? I'd go out, not in less than a couple of weeks though.

Its alright mate... when I go out to work there (if I get the job) I will be accompanied by 2 armed guards and I will get my own driver:p
So security is not really an issue...
ahh the joys of working for the government;)
Would depend on whether they catch Saddam or not. Otherwise I don't think he would hesitate to poisen the water supplies or just fire chemical weapons straight at the city
Guess it depends on how much you value your life at :( Sorry to be blunt, but all the other hostile places (Some african countries, eastern eurpoe etc) the natives only really seem interested in robbery or kidnapping and is mostly money based.
I think if the wrong sort of people in Iraq got hold of you, their anger with the US and UK could be instant deadening :(
Id like to leave it at least 6 months, and re-assess then.

I was thinking 'Hell yeah, go for it' but the above comment made me see it in another light :(
The future of Iraq is extremely uncertain, I would seriously wait until it settles into a routine before deciding whether to work there.
A mate of mine has just gone out to Kuwait, to engineeryify the army vehicles. The thing is, he's working in the middle of a giant army base, not sliding round Baghdad with only 2 blokes for protection .................
But the money he's getting ............... hoooo! Id give it a couple of weeks and see - its not like you are gonna be the only westerner there is it?? :)
Ahhh networking ;) its how governments actually manage to succeed in getting things done
Tim you have PM.

Don't let your missus know: its free shopping over there...:D :D
I wouldnt go anywhere near there as long as the Americans are present. If you do go dont let them give you a white Nissan as a company car.

are you gonna be the new Minister of DIS-Information :D
seriously, I'd go but I think the money and the Costners would have to be exceptional
New America? I'd go, of course from the sounds of it I will be there soon anyway. Go Uncle Sam!!
aye i'd do it ;) what IS it exactly by the way?
I would say go for it. I worked there 5 years ago and found the people great. Now that the sanctions are lifted things should be even better. Plus you would live like a king. See if you can get one of Saddam's palaces. ;)

Basically, if I get the job I will be going out with about 8 or so UK based staff to set up the new British Embassy.. I have applied for a job abroad that is one grade below what I am now.. the reason being... money... its only for 1 year with the option of a 2nd.. and i should be earning around 40k take home pay.. hence why U want to do it:p :D ....
But you can imagine how many people are applying for a job like this.... loads:( but I have a good chance of getting it..
so watch this space.....;)
Yeah, why not. If you've got your own protection, then go for it for a few months.
If you stay out there, can I have your Starion ;) ;)
Cool, get your own gun too as the laws are a bit laps out there, who knows, maybe you could accidently kill a few americans thinking they were terrorists!!!
Boot Polish & a stick on Moustache and you are there! Black Hair dye too!
Make sure you only wash every week / two weeks so you have the right aroma. If you smell clean you will stick out like a sore thumb!
