Well lads, anybody have any good or bad views on a trust T518z??I've been offered a T518z 10 cm,yashio factory equal length manifold(or trust manifold) trust downpipe, braided lines, trust actuator and full gasket set..Just wondering if this would be any better or worse than my hks gtrs setup at the moment?thanks lads and almost forgot its for a 180sx

the GT-RS is more powerful than the T518Z, and probably far more reliable also as the greddy units arent renowned for being the most long lasting, although they are popular in japan.

I was thinking the gtrs was more reliable because of the ball bearing but i was also looking into the price of rebuilding the gtrs, seems you have to replace to whole core which over here in Ireland works out near 1000 euros but you can buy a kit for the T518z for 120-130 euros, the one im lookin at has just been rebuilt too..Does anybody that has run the two know of the actual power figures between the two and the difference in spool up times?

Absolutely GREAT TURBO on both CA and SR.

ive tried and tuned mine on both and have been running one for a while. Its basically the same (revised blade design) of the original TD05-18g which I run on my CA.

Top smooth spooling turbocharger.

Just oil cooled as well ;)

I used to use one. Very quick response. I'd logged it hitting about 1.3 bar at 3300rpm. As Steve says, its a TD05H-18G in a different housing. They are supposed to be suitable for up to 400hp, although I think that is going to be in absolutely ideal conditions on an SR.

i actually reaaaaaly like this turbo.

ive seen nigh on 420hp on a well tuned and set up CA (pushig it) ;)

and also in Japan ive seen this turbo run a CA18DET @ 11.7 on the strip ;)

They flow 550cfm so not far of the original TD06-20g which flows 650fm

cfm = thats cubic fee of air per minute.

basically in answer to your question there is nothing bad at all to be said about the T518Z units. They are excellent turbos.

Thanks for the replys lads, just another quick question-what boost is the T518Z capable of holding and does it boost creep atall? My engine is fully forged, tomei cams and springs,555cc injectors and running a power fc and a few other bits and pieces.Do you think this turbo is capable of 400bhp at the fly?Again thanks for the replys:thumbs:

oh and would the equal length manifold make any difference or would the trust manifold be every bit as good??

nick , you've no worries about boost creep with this unit.

Bumping an old thread......Can you run 555's with the T518Z or are 740's essential? I have some 550's at the moment and may fit some Tomei cams too but don't want to get it mapped and find that the injectors were the limiting factor as I only want it to be mapped once.

It does make sense but I'm wondering if I can get away with those or if I'll be better off with 740's.

his was running about 330hp so guess it depends on how far you want to push it? this was fitted on a uk s14 black top with stock manifold with a tial ext w/g to eliminate creep.
