View Full Version : how to tell if a turbo is a t28 or t28r?

hiya, bought a turbo a few days ago. he told me it was deff a gt28r roller bearing but when i had a good look at it today there isnt a identification tag on it:(

Is there any way to tell the difference by just looking at them? opening them up? looks the same as my t28 that ive got now:(

Might not be conclusive, but I think the bolt holes for the oil drain are closer together on the R version.

Hi,

GT28R's have a six bolt arrangement on the turbine housing to bearing housing mating flange, T28's have a four bolt arrangement.
