They'll be able to track where you've been through the network even if you delete the whole history on your PC. Think you may have to get friendly with the IT guys.

feeeccckkkkkk - the IT guy IS my boss :(

Can he track at what time i visited what site etc? Or is it just a case of "this site has been visited at some point"

If you go through an internal server to get to the net, then that can log all internet activity. If you've got a direct line out then you'll be ok.

Arry mate first step is get 'Wipe and Clean' ???? off downloads.com. It does a great job of cleaning up your PC. Secondly I am sure other people use your PC at work ;)

Also if you have broadband at home and you leave your machine on, slap RDP on your PC at work. Get the relevent port opened an vola! browse the BB from your home PC while at work :D :D

No traces over the network, no caching or tracking on the firewalls/proxies :D :D :D :D

Si :)

Wipe and clean will basically do what it says on the tin, it cleans down your PC, but it won't sort your network issue. I covered my self with the line 'ha other people use my machine too!' so I not sure mister boss if it was me browsing the SXOC while at work :D :D :D :D

RDP (Remote Desktop Proto something) its like PC anywhere. You can basically connect though IP to your PC at home. You get a window which shows the desktop of your PC at almost realtime. It's just like working on your PC but from work :D Open up IE and you are surfing from home :)

Just need to find an excuse so you can have it on your PC ( and also for your IT dept to open up the proxy)

SI :)

well Wipe and Clean is a no go then :( cos i can't blame someone else for sxoc browsing ;) (they have no taste in my work)

What excuse can i use???? without arousing suspicion? and is it something i have to d/l?

RDP is a download from the microsoft site (you will also need 'Terminal server' running on your PC)

This is from Win 2000, don't know what OS you've got - hope this is helpful.

Fire up Internet Explorer (if that's what you use - I haven't got Netscape so can't comment on that). Go to Internet options, hit clear history.

Delete all from:

C:\Documents and Settings\[Your login name]\Cookies

C:\Documents and Settings\[Your login name]\Local Settings\History

C:\Documents and Settings\[Your login name]\Local Settings\Temp

C:\Documents and Settings\[Your login name]\Local Settings\Temporary internet files

C:\Documents and Settings\[Your login name]\Recent

If they have a web proxy, then your surfing will be traceable in the server logs, and you're fooked. However, if this was an issue I'm sure you would already have been pulled up for this. If you're just worried about a technician nosing through your PC, the above should sort you out. Give the wipe and clean thing a go- it'll just automate the steps I've given, and probably do it more thoroughly.

Oh, yeah, delete the pr0n off your machine first ;)

Hope this helps,

Dave
