'Kay, so I got the right colour to spray the bad bit of my Fiat, and had fun on Friday masking the area off and repeatedly spraying it  until it looked ok. But there's a very obvious 'border' where the masking was.

I also need to laquer it.

Q: how should I sand it down (with fine wet/dry) to prepare for the laquer?
- all over the newly sprayed part?
- just over the obvious borders?
- over all the newly sprayed part, and also a over a good border of old paint either side to remove an area of old laquer?

cheers :)

well with non metalic paint you would need to flat it down with 1200wet and dry , use it very wet. probably wouldnt hurt to try to loose the join.

dont know if this applies to metallics tho.

Hopefully youve sprayed a fair bit past where you primered it otherwise when you rub it down to lose the join you will have a border of lovely battleship grey showing.

Use 1200 or even 2000 grit wet and dry. Onve the join has gone then lacquer past the join but dont mask off the area too closely otherwise you will just have a border of lacquer.
