The damn emissions testing mobile roadblock is moving about it will only be a matter of time now before I get pulled !

Fixed penalty of 60 quid ? and a vehicle recitification notice if I fail ?

Has anyone actually been done over by one of these pit stops and can tell me what happened to em?

How far out of whack will I be do you think without cats ? I believe they use a standard from 1986 from the documents I have seen and onloy test lambda if your car is meant to have a cat. (which of course mine does).

Serisously considering getting a hi-flo cat.

Geez what a poo day !

Well talking to a friend... eh who has to wear a uniform and tell me where all the speed traps are

Emissions testing is going to be the next big thing, apparently it will be a nice little money earner. Basically I got pulled over twice. A police unit of some kind was pulling over blocks of 5 or 10 cars and testing them for emissions. Oh I passed just  and that was with the standard exhaust? Oh need to be carefully because while they are sticking there tool up your pipe :D one of the other blokes has a nice little walk round the car checking other bits like tyres etc.

God there must be no crime in this beautiful country because the police seam to have to much time on there hands.

Si :)

If it's from the original emissions standard from '86 then it's a CAT free standard, meaning a modern jap car will breeze it without CATS.

Isn't there something about how imports don't have to comply to MoT cat standards, on account of there not being an 'exact' match?

Anyway, can someone find out the limits they use on these tests?

I read (on here I think) that the mobile emissions testers re inherently unreliable and as long as your car is running smoothly you should be fine.

I got a friend 'In the know' so I'll make some enquiries.

Well as its only a 60 quid fine that they issue and no points I can live with being caught once at least. At which point I will look into hi-flo cats.

I know the S13 doesn't need cats, but will mine pass after the big injectors etc have been fitted?

Something I have never really thought of. Spose it must do, cos loads of peeps on here have done similar mods and must pass an MOT.

Also, can a car go through an MOT ok with a stupid fecking zorst like a NUR Spec?

I think we will either to all run out and get our cars tested to see or just hold out till we get pulled tbh.

What about sheds like my car? Made in 1986...

Your ok coz they know you shouldn't have a cat.

We are ok until they test the lambda which they do on cars they know should have a cat and thats when we will fail.

As Bubbles did.

But on CO etc we would be fine even with cats

In the MOT you are allowed to run a Cat equipped car without a Cat as long as the car the engine came out of didn't need one. This gets a bit tricky for the S14/14a but the S13 owners can always say the engine came out of an '89.

Ah, I knew that buying a car that didn't have a cat in the first place would do me some good one day ;)

This emmisions stuf is hypocrasy as now half of the particualte emmissions - i.e. the most dangerous stuff to humans - is emmitted by BUSSES and LORRIES.
Another government stealth tax.

Sopke to my mate last week. He told me that the cat (s) are not always necessary, it depends on the car.

New manufactered cars must have them fitted to pass very strict emissions regulations but the MoT emissions regs haven't changed in 30 years. The same emissions regs apply to our SX's as to a MK1 Beetle!

He also told me that the roadside emissions testers aren't as accurate as the MoT testers (this may have changed as he left two years ago) so providing that your car is running smoothly you should not only pass road side checks but MoT's too:D

Alg;)

Bubble,

What did your car fail on? apparently the testers can sense different substances like CO2 ans SO2.

Its easy to pass emissions if you've got an E-manage ;)

Didn't have a problem with the NUR Spec with the bung in.

Anyone else passed an MoT with an HKS Hi-Power and no cats?

Just had one fitted and don't know how good/bad the fumes are.
