Local people, I need your help! I'm heading up to Grafham Water on Friday for a sailing competition.

We're having a party on Saturday but might be able to have a night out on the town on Friday. Where's a good place to go?

We're travelling up on Friday afternoon from Southampton and picking up some new sails near Peterbough if that helps :)

Somewhere which doesn't take itself too seriously, no attitude and lots of git women would be nice :D

Are you staying at Grafham Water?

Basically, taxi's round here like charging you an absolute fortune, nearby places which have life are St.Neots and Huntingdon, though Cambridge isn't too much of a treck, likewise with Peterborough (though both will cost you a fortune on the taxi front)!

Both St.Neots and Huntingdon have a bit of a reputation as being a bit rough, I've lived in both towns but it's been sometime since I've been to either. I'm completely out of touch with St.Neots, but last time I heard it did have some crappy little night club.
Huntingdon has a night club (it's called Oliver's), and if you're into single mum's, then I've heard it's the place to go! Pub wise, there's the Samuel Pepys (which is good for a chillout and Cromwell's - those are the only two places I'd go...

Cambridge, loads and loads of great bars and pubs, after chucking out time though, the clubs are a bit gash! Start off at the Regal, check out the Rat and Parrott and pray that there's something worthwile on at the Junction! :wack:
Peterborough, the bars are great, but the clubs are better - this is the only place in the area which has a rock club!!!! If you want to follow the crowd, start off in the college arms, head to Yates and then to Solstice, ending the night in the Liquid complex (Liquid, chicago's, new york new york and envy all rolled into one).

St.Ives is probably worth a mention also, about ten miles down the road it has a bit more choise when it comes to clubs and pubs, they're still crap, but then it depends what you're used to I suppose... Go to the Golden Lion and then the Music box.

If you want me to grab you some info on taxi firms, or help you out with directions to places, just give me a shout! :)

There is a clucb called ballare as well. used to be ok. But quite expensive now and the queue is pretty long from quite early:rolleyes:

I used to go there back in the day:rolleyes:

I suppose if you're pissed then anywhere is great! Junction been refurbed a while now - its used to be a laugh on friday/weekends not been since it was been refurbed though.

I live in St.Ives maybe a smallish town but i just had a count up if you include one hotel we have 15 pubs/bars and 2/3 clubs and some late nite bar's which is alot more than most town's our size and if u get bored were plonked right in the middle of cambridge and peterborough. It may not be the best nite of your life but enough to keep you amused i imagine
Hope that can be of some help !

oh man, I wouldn't go near ballare... I remember the days when it was fifth avenue! :wack:

I went to the junction for a gig a while back, it still seemed to have the same atmosphere as the old days... But then, I've not been there on a club night for fooking ages!

Peterborough also has a greyhound racing track, so if you're going to be up this way early-ish then I can forward you a link which should entitle you to free entry and two meals for a penny!* Loosing loads of money is a great way to start the evening aswell! :wack:
Oh, and if you phone Liquid and let them know there's a party of you coming, then you can have free entry and a fetching pink wristband if you're there before 11! At £1.60 per bottle, the drink aren't badly priced either - Friday's only this though!

*I cannot vouch for the quality of these meals... Though we're going in a couple of weeks time, so fingers crossed it's not too deadly!

Enjoy Grafham Parker, it's our home club.

We keep Libs there, and when we're not sailing, we windsurf there as well.

We'd probably be up there this weekend, but Joe's cut his hand open.

Mmm, we might be staying at the sailing club on Friday. We were considering Reflex in Peterborough as the Southampton one is like fishing with dynamite ;) We have two crates of Wifebeater so we'll be ok if that happens :D

DO NOT go to reflex in Peterborough! It's unbelievably crap...
