What sort of prices and dates we looking at :)
Monkey Magic
13-10-2008, 23:17
Arrive and drive is 17.50 for a 15min session or £30 for two 15min sessions.
You can do grand prix's but it ends up with people missing out on racing as not everyone is in the final etc
They do endurance races but can't remember the prices.
I recommend just doing the arrive and drive as we usually do a couple of sessions leaving the pits in any order to get used to the track and see who can get the fastest lap, after that the guy there lets us line up on the grid but with the fastest lap holder from the previous sessions at the back of the grid and the slowest at the front. Makes it an interesting first corner  :D
Done an hours worth before which is plenty as it is surprisingly strenuous and you generally feel pretty fooked after an hour.
^^^Sounds good^^^^

I remember doing it at Eddie Irvine's circuit in Ireland (Galway I think), and the guys telling us not to use the throttle at the same time as the brakes, otherwise we would boil them lol.
I always thought it was cool watching the young guys who were there slide round the corners, looked awesome :D
Go-Kart drift comp anyone? :wack:
They tell u off for drifting at the exeter track :(
I got sin binned :wack:
Monkey Magic
14-10-2008, 15:33
When its dry there really isn't any point in drifting as it just scrubs off time and wears out the tyres quickly, on a hot day after about 10 min you can feel the tyres starting to go off a bit just from grip racing, besides they don't have enough power to do it in the dry.
They wont like you trying to get it sideways all the time in the dry or jumping over curbs as it will cost them more money to either repair the kart or replace the tyres than what we are spending there.
They know me and the usuals never break a kart so they don't mind us doing pretty much what we want and we don't take the piss but one time a few other mates went with us and they ended up twisting the chassis's on 3 karts which I'm sure I don't need explain how much it would cost them to replace.
As long as everyone doesn't drive like a complete knob we should be ok, if anyone does act a dick I will personally throw them off the course :whip:
Of course a bit of touring car style tapping is unavoidable and bloody good fun too, I got put on the grass one time but like I keep saying as long as the karts don't get damaged.
Raceworld is absolutely shite compared to this track

Ross S14
14-10-2008, 22:14
We'll have to sound them out about a group discount later this yr or early next yr. I reckon we could get a few more peeps yet - an endurance challenge may be the best bet - I did that in Brighton on my stag earlier this yr - was great fun and if someone is struggling then they can come off and get someone else who's fresher out.

If you guys decide on what month you want to go as I'm not bothered when it happens I'll go up there and speak to the guy about dates and whever we can get a discount for a group booking.
They do have race meetings up there once a month when the go kart season is on, I think its at the end of every month.

Does anyone have any prices for mansells, my laptop won't open his site.
I'm just interested in arrive and drive prices and grand prix prices as we often go karting with work but its always raceworld.
Cheers
Kev
Raceworld's the one in Exeter isnt it ? the last time we had a party there EVERYONE came home with head aches :( the have no extraction so the fumes stay in the building, and as for racing lol, as soon as you get near someone they slow it down, i wouldnt pay my own money to go there again thats for sure.
Definitely interested, I've only been karting once before when I was 11 but have fond memories.
Put me down for now, I'll have a word with my little brother and a mate of mine and see if they're up for it too.
Is there a limited number of spaces?

I worked there for a couple months and yes you do get a headache after a 12 hour shift.
The bloke who runs the place is a prick and i left before i had a go at him and got sacked.
But you only get slowed down if you can't drive. When me and my mates go we don't get slowed down, you just have to realise that its a non contact sport and repairs are costly.
Looking forward to mansells as it should be a challenge as me and the missus have never been. :nervous:

Whats going on with this anyway Gary? you said about postponing it till the summer??
Mansell's is sooo much better than raceworld, you can top out the karts out down the start/finish straight, the guy who manages the place said I was doing about 50mph at one point.
A couple of pics so you get the idea

How much is arrive and drive Martin?
It's £30 for 2 15min sessions, we normally do an hour which is plenty as most people complain that thier arms are hurting by then :wack:
It's really competitive there too
Maybe not the summer but at least till spring as the weather is crap this time of the year. It will be cold for people watching plus some need to get there cars back on the road. I'll be busy after Feb for a while;).
So we Chan and i said lets wait till April/May time.

And yes it is an awesome track and even more fun, they only use about half of the main track for what we'll be using. I think the standard karts would pop if they went down the whole straight :wack:
It's loads of fun in the wet too  :wack:

Exactly, race world costs more for less track time if you do a grand prix there, words can't describe how much better Dunkeswell is.
I've found a vid of the day in those pics, shows the track a bit more just need to upload it :)

Do you guys know that this is going to be held in the South West somewhere near Exeter. Its a long way for you guys.

Those be the ones  To the extent we almost got a set for my car. But then decided that it was unneccessary expense (that is to say SHE decided )
We met at the Burnin Bournemouth thing (when I had my silver S13) and a few times at the Exeter meet but I've been there with 3 different cars so most people wouldn't have recognised me unless they knew me!

I liked that one - more so when he completed the kit - looked a little odd with the standard front bumper! I remember that meet too - that was an S13 day for me...
Hey,
In the interest of everyone else, what's happening with this? Are the details going to get finalised because February is rapidly approaching.

Could be our SW area June event? Nothing major on then that I know of. No babies arriving etc.lol. I'd vote for the second weekend then (when we'd normally have our meet at Route 38). Some of the Cornwall lot then can still meet at the cafe as normal as it's a fair old way up to the Devon/Somerset border - gives them another option on the same day if wanted.
