View Full Version : TDSW - Drifting (56k go home)
I know a few people have shown interest in this event and cr33ch went last time and looked like he had a great time.
The next event is organised for the 18th of this month
The event is all organised here (http://www.trampdrift.com/html/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=4283) its 25 pounds for a driver and I think 2 pounds for a spectator. Runs from 8-2/3 (depends on if we have a lunch break) gates to the track close as 8 and spectators have a separate entrance to the right of the track which leads to a car park behind the track.
Directions; they is no postcode but its on the A372 between Westonzoyland and Middlezoyland (near bridgewater). if you google map it, its the large square bit of concrete on the corner
let me know if your coming to spectate / sign up to trampdrift if you want to take part.
i aint gonna make this one now... anyone that goes will have such a laugh they will want to stay there all night!!!
Im always there and its always good and cheap

I'm going again
Paulpen - Mike on TDSW said you were after some 16" tyres?
CH1EF - Do you mind if I link this to the south west section?
Well just been out to count how many I have and may be fine. Could do with one or two but only if they are really good ;)

I'm there, got all my tires and itching to go sideways!
See you all on Saturday morning :D
think it might be a long night tonight getting the car ready :( but cant wait, not long now!

What you need doing to your car Ch1ef?
mount some tyres, oil change, change road wheels to ones that are road legal etc.
Oh and there is also something wrong with it as I remember I limped home with it last time it was driven but cannot remember what! (it not been out in weeks) :D
Should all be fine but these dark evenings don't encourage car work and also I want to go out drinking tonight :p
you all set?

16-10-2008, 16:21
yeah I'm all good, just need to make sure my new fuel pump is in properly because I have a higher fuel consumption now. But I'm sure it's normal being a uprated Walbro, never hurts to check tho.
Then I need to do a preventative modification until I can get it fixed, that being that I need to cable tie up my exhaust in case the bracket decides to give way (rather rusty) while drifting.
Ummm...then its a matter of loading up my tires and tools, getting the tires pumped up & then I'm all set.
Oh...maybe I should get some more oil too! Had a leak the last time because cam covers were coming loose
Im coming up guys but to spectate this time and maybe time have a go my self
All loaded up - see you all in the morning

I'll be going, but undecided on the drifting. I'll be bringing spare rubber and a brace just in case.
Silly question, but is anyone likely to have a jack?:wack:
& is it recommended upping tire pressures?
I expect everyone going will have a jack ;)
Upping pressures can be done but tis driftable without it :)

Have properly read Ch1ef link and it looks like I should have had my name down on TDSW. Plus there was quite a big reserve list.

Sure. I haven't uploaded the video clips yet.
When I say 'high res', I mean higher than the resolution they end up on SXOC. The ones where I have used the zoom aren't brilliant even in there larger format. If you PM me you email, I'll send you the originals that came from the phone.

Was good to meet a few sxoc'ers there yesterday!
Had a really good time. Would love to see more SX's out there diffing it sideways!
Bugger, that looks like you lot had a really good day. I was on my way up but turned back then i went on to have a really boring day. Next time guys:thumbs::thumbs::thumbs:
Tracks been reversed since I was last there :(
Andy, your car looks savage on the Starions
The yellow and black car used to be owned by a guy from Plymouth he built that to as you see it. Then dropped out of the BDC (personal reasons) such a shame.
It was awesome with 381Bhp and just as much torque. Can the new owner drive it????
Got any vids of the day?
Was a great day! big thanks to andy for the ride in his car(though I didn't seem to be very lucky for him lol:D)

Vid clips are crap, and am trying to work out why. They download quite quick but I think they are heavily compressed so take a while to process.
I may be able to sort it. (Should be OK on high spec PC's though:wack: )

Monkey Magic, were you using a welded or locking diff? Didn't realize that was your second time. I thought you'd been doing it for ages!
Kaaz 2-way which is wicked for drifting and track abuse but a bloody nightmare for normal road use.
I did spend a small fortune on the suspension and chassis before doing any power mods. I'm not sure if its the car that makes it seem sort of easy to drift for me, I need to have a go in a more standard car to see the difference so I am dead set on getting my s13 going as soon as the s14 car gets a little makeover ;) :D
Will be posting a few vids as soon as Jev gets here with his laptop, should be pretty good vids he was stood ontop of the tip top tyre van so a different view, some in car too. Think I'll put them on youtube first then give that Vimeo a go :)

I'm off work the first week in November if you want me to pop over and help with the white beasty.
How much of the tyre wall has gone after this day? :D Reminds me, I have a couple more 225/45/17 part worns in the garage. Its not really like I'm going to try drifting my S14a... Well, maybe give it a go one day :wack:

Because I've spent all of my hard earned cash on the s14 and put in hours of crawling around underneath the thing with little to no help with it so I'm the only fecker thats gunna drive it :smash: or at least until I've bashed it a few times first :wack: I think I'd cry watching someone else abuse/crash it, it feels a part of me now :ghey: :D
Cheers for the tyres they are always welcome  and I'll try to get some time off work in the first week of November.

Thanks everyone for the vids, I have linked them all up on www.Trampdrift.com
Bit gutted as every time my car comes into view whoever is on the camera pans away to a SX (what else should I expect here lol) or its someone else driving but good videos never the less.
200sx14 do you realise you have put the wrong month in the title of your vids?

I know this is a tramp drift thing but couldn't we have a word with the people who run it and have a joint Westcontry and Southwest area drifty day.
What do you reckon?

Don't think so mate, squashedmonkey (Mike from trampdrift) runs the show and I think the owner of the land (farmer Dave) only allows drifting on his land once every 6 weeks because of noise and the council and thats reserved for Trampdrift :)
We would need to find another bit of concrete and a friendly land owner for that to happen.

Maybe smeatharp would work. A club meeting with an owners club may look better than the big meets they had before with all the complaints:confused:

Thought of that already and its owned by three different people, I am in the process of getting hold of at least one of them to ask but if it was to happen up there I should imagine it would have to be very limited numbers as my mate spoke to the previous owner who owned the whole airfield and he was going to let us hire it but with a limit for cars, 10 I think but it was a while ago.
Would be so cool to have a drift event up there, streetwars circuit was getting bigger but between some knobend chavs, a part timer resident twat complaining  and the utterly useless east devon district council  it got stopped :indiff:

I thought it was due to the standard of driving to/from the event:confused: I also heard that it may come back and they were only canceling events for a while to try and sort things:confused: The stockcar racing has to be just as loud surely:nod:

Sorry to dissappoint you guys, Smeatharpe is finished for quite a while, (Noise abatement order) if you can race a remote controlled car up there in the next year or two I'd be surprized.
We are indeed limited to 7 events per year because of noise and council etc. And these are taken up by Trampdrift events.
Big Mike and myself will be sitting down to discuss the event, and how it will run next year. I will mention that you guys would be interested in this. But be aware that a bmw club has mentioned the same idea previously.
I'm always looking for new venues, and will keep you all in mind should I come across anything new.
It would be a good day I'm sure, and it would give me the inspiration I need to finish of one of my s13's

I wish I could organise more days there guys, I have been asked by the AE86 club, a BM forum and yourselves (previously to this I add) to do club days and I would love to. Id have one every weekend if I could lol.
There aren't many other options really guys, not in the SW. If you want to spend some proper bucks there are some working airfields that may enter discussions but its gonna take some proper effort, risk assesments, paramedics, liability cover and much pricier land rent.
My mate has family that own part of Smeatharpe and Dunkerswell airfields and even with that close a link we can't get anything going there. Shame really, imo Street Wars ruined it for drifters as previous to such a massive event the owners were happy to rent it to drifters at very reasonable rates. 20 drifters was a lot less hassle than hundreds of drag/drift/chavs arriving through the village let me tell you.
I reckon we could of had at least a year of high speed drift practice out there if Streetwars hadn't arrived. Damn big spending popular Drag racers lol.

Slider200 one thing we never have problem is getting numbers. We could fill 3/4 times as many events if we had the space or could run more often.

semtex is on there, its somerset japanese car club, semtex postedd that he might be adle to run a handling event as it wouldn't make as much noise as drifting. only a handful of sjcc seemed iterested so thought he might open it up to sxoc aswell?
just a thought mind!
p.s well impressed with your tramper mike you should have seen the scratches on big mike no.2 after his passenger ride! lol

Yeah that is probably true, SWPC do a day out there of a similar ilk. Might well be an idea if there are a couple of local sxoc members interested in that (you know the type, dont want to drift with their big shiney wheels :D) to get them signed up to SWPC and attend their sprint days. I defo want to next time its on.
Did big mike 2 go out out with Si? The 5er is a beast, cleanly pulled 3rd across the top 3up which will do for me thankyou. I just hope it survives lots of our abuse for many more days to come.

Standard lsd will be fine, I had a viscous on my 13 and it worked ok. Howler competes with a standard lsd. A lot of us have done many TDSW's on open diffs, teaches you good techniques but makes life a bit harder.

I think its camping on site although I don't think the misses is too keen on that so we might get a B&B or tavelodge instead.
Decided to do 2 days then CH1EF? - Those 2 17's I bought off ya with the r33 rims, are they Yokohama alloys? It looks like they have the Yokohama symbol stamped on the inside.
hahah....we're lucky, the misses is originally from that area and her parents have a big bungalow and holiday cottages up there and at that time they are all empty so we'll be in the nice warm, sat in front of a log fire watching Sky tv (and doing various other things ;)) in the evening. Sod getting freezing cold, wet and having no sleep then driving car about at speed sideways teh following day.

Ye, though may as well do both days once im set up and gone that far! No idea what they are, never really looked, bought them with another pair and they sat in the garage for a year.
